  1. Hi

    I have NVIDIA GeForce FX5600

    Driver nv4_disp.dll(6.14.11.6921)

(There is more info on it from speccy)

It has only crashed twice in the last two days,I`m just prememting if it crashes and i can`t get it to start up again, when i press the reset or on button it`s as if there is no power to the machine...

  2. What exactly happens, i.e. screen goes blank, it kills the power??

    Richard S.

    Hi Richard

the symptoms are the screen goes black, both times i was surfing, and the cpu shuts down,I still have power to my speakers and screen, and the computer, but the on/off or reset button is not effective I then switched the off button at the back of the cpu, after about two minutes the powers back and the screen comes back, both times i may have been logged on about an hour plus,

  3. Warlock thanks for the input...perhaps the arid desert conditions may have a been a factor in the printer not working by the look of it now we will never know !

I use a cannon...but i think i would sooner use the M249 Saw !!!(there is a joke in there!)

Lets not give Hazelnut a headache !!

  4. Oh poo it`s just happened again !

have downloaded speedfan as suggested by Talldog, not sure what to make of the temps and speeds..

I suppose if things become desperate if i take the computer to my local repair shop they will understand where the problem lies using the speedfan results..

i`m safe.I will just monitor and see if i get another crash.

    Thanks again

  7. It`s not easy being in grief you have to prepare to go through the loss again in waves,

sometimes nothing makes sense and nothing seems fair,

one way of giving something to the one you`ve lossed is to live your life more intensely on their behalf

what about posting a picture of your Dad that you like to show us so we can all help in thinking of you and him....

  8. Just looking at the "Spyware Hell "forum,I have noticed that there are no outstanding requests for help.a few years ago there were many threads dealing with all sorts of threats.(As it was when I joined and needed help)So are we getting better at protecting our selves ?to the credit of forums like piriform,?.Is the antimalware software better?, or are there less threats out there ? or is there some other factor ?either way it seems good news !

    That's a good thought.

My dad started out on a minesweeper at the beginning of WWII, a real "interesting" job during the invasions in N. Africa and Italy.

Before the troops in the landing craft, the bigger ships, the brass come wading ashore with all the newsreels running someone had to go out and cut and destroy all those mines....in a small wooden ship (so you wouldn't detonate the magnetic mines) with a lot of horsepower and a bunch of .50 cal machine guns to blow up the mines when they came up to the surface.

They had long cables with steel fins to flare out and cut the mine cables, when they popped up you got on the .50 cals and fired away.

All this while you were dodging German fighters trying to strafe your ship.

Some way to become decorated for bravery! But he did move up the ranks becoming a CPO on the battleship New Jersey in the WestPac.....which led him to be called back up to the Korean War.
