  1. What no U.S. presidential candidates are listed, they were like robots in '08 saying the same stuff over and over like it was hard coded. :P

Here in Canada we had a popular TV program called The Royal Canadian Air Farce that depicted our current PM as an automaton that was hilarious.

I wonder if Super Bowl 43 will have more viewers than today's Inauguration?

  2. I have a Brother All-in-One MFC240C that I purchased ages ago for $80.00 I believe and it has a large black cartridge that costs about $60.00 to replace with an original cartridge but luckily I found a Island Ink-Jet cartridge refill place next to my local bank that refill it for $9.00.

Wal-Mart is too far away from me unfortunately to try their refill services.

  3. A Review of the Best Robots of 2008

Robot innovation continued its relentless advances during 2008. In this post we would like to showcase some of our favorite robots and robot videos of the last year or so. This review is heavily slanted to consumer robots and research robots.

  4. If you are the only person using the system then you are correct but if there are other users then they need a Limited User account so that they can't download something nasty and install it when you are not looking.

  5. Here to download video

As shown in the clip above,,, my laptop makes this strange squeaking noises as soon as I plug in the power cord, and screen blacks out for about a split second.. I've found it only does this when it's cold from not running for a while - like when I turn it off at night and start up in the morning.

It has only recently started doing this. I got it 2 years ago, and I've gotten some pretty heavy use out of it.. think it be time for an new machine?

Maybe its time for a dust bunny exorcism as the fan act like a little vacuum cleaner sucking up whatever loose dust is near.

Look up "cleaning laptops" with Google.

Maybe it will last a bit longer and if you don't want to do that then I gratefully accept cast off computers.

  6. Yeah like Tree Bark Soup, if there is such a thing. Or just put off disgusts in things other cultures regularly eat, and start munching on insects.

I like No Reservations by Anthony Bourdain that I see on the Discovery Channel here:

Last one I saw he was in Jeddah Saudia Arabia and he ate camel and goat plus a few other interesting things.

When I was in Jakarta Indonesia ages ago I went out with the people I was working with and we had to go to a big mens communal wash up area to wash our hands then we went back for a delicious meal but I found that I could not stop the rice from going everywhere because my fingers make a poor fork.

In my travels working for IBM I have eaten many a different meal in many countries with Frits Au Mules in Brussels Belgium near the Grand Place and Curry Fish Head soup in Singapore.

I could not eat the fish eyes though.

  7. You'd think with 3 digital cameras, one would have a working battery for me to take a picture. hehe.

I have one and I purchased 4 Ni Cad rechargeable batteries with a charger from Radio Shack that I keep handy as it would go through the 2 AAs it needs in no time.

If I am going on a long trip I have a 4 pack of fresh alkalines handy.

I was a Boy Scout so I know the meaning of Be Prepared

  8. =( I'm alone in my dislike of next-gen video games

I don't even have the Windows supplied Games on my system.

I like the game of Life that unfolds before my eyes in real 3D Technicolor and I don't have to pay a nickel for it.

  9. I'm not a fan of it myself but I like to cook and I watch the Food channel a bit so I try to incorporate some of the things I see there.

I'm real short of money right now so I have to be fugal and I have lots of time so I enjoy turning something ordinary into something I can have a bit of enjoyment with.

  10. My TV has a built in VHS player that I purchased back in 2002 because I moved into Townhouse where I had a small bedroom that was so small that I had to also get a wall mount to put the TV on because there was no other place I could put the TV so that I could watch it.

I have a collection of tapes like The Party, Brasil, The Meaning of Life, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and movies of that type.

It is still working right now with an all evening PBS special about a travelogue of a rail journey from Canada's most eastern shores to its west. It is just about to go through the Rockies but it is one of their fund raiser drives so I'm typing here during one of the fund drive breaks.

  11. I just finished my lunch that I made starting with a box of macaroni and cheese.

    Ken's gourmet macaroni and cheese:

I started by getting the recommended water boiling and throwing in 4 large chopped garlic clove segments, 1/4 diced medium onion, macaroni box contents, 1/4 cup chopped ham and a handful spaghetti pieces with a dash of Italian spices, salt and pepper.

I let that simmer for about 10 minutes then drained most of the liquid then put in 1/4 cup butter and milk then stirred in the cheese mix and chopped a small bit of additional cheese.

I ate some of it with a slice of toasted dark rye.

I'll keep the rest for lunch tomorrow.

Its miserable outside -4C and snowing like crazy with a forecast of 10-15cm or 3-5 inches.

I could never be a polar explorer.

  12. Welcome pawleygon

I think that is is a false positive by Stopzilla.

I hope you downloaded from an approved site like Filehippo as there are rogue sites that claim to have CCleaner but they are not to be trusted:

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

Actually I never had much use for Stopzilla and its site is blocked in the hpHosts HOSTS file.

    Old PCMag review:

Download.com users only give it 2 out of 5 stars which is poor.

  13. An option I tried last night was to increase the size of my page file, which caused it to go into two fragments, then to run Mark Russinovich's PageDefrag and reboot. PageDefrag did what it said, but the single page file extent was arbitrarily placed.

I don't see any good reason why the page file can't just be left in peace!

    AMEN to that brother.
