  1. OpenDNS rolls out Conficker tracking, blocking

    Downadup on notice

Free research: Application platforms, the state of play

With an estimated 10 million PCs infected by the stealthy worm known as Conficker, it's a good bet that plenty of administrators are blissfully unaware that their networks are playing host to the pest. Now, a free service called OpenDNS is offering a new feature designed to alert administrators to the damage and help them contain it.

  3. Welcome blowdart

I don't have Vista yet but I can not find anything like that in XP.

I don't believe support for IE8 should be given serious consideration until it becomes generally available as it is still just RC1 and things can change.

  5. I believe this was answered for you already but it is always good to have:

    http://docs.piriform.com

I put it in my Favorites under Links then I Export them to a floppy diskette.

In IE go to File then Import and Export... then Next then Export Favorites then Next then select where you want them saved.

  6. Partition Magic 8 can reformat both, but Boot Magic (within PM8) can only exist on a FAT32 partition, not NTFS. (Great move, Power Quest. What a bunch of maroons.)

I don't like anything from Norton (Symantec) as they borged Power Quest to make it their own.

    Have a look at:

EASEUS Partition Manager 3.0 Home Edition

  7. Consider the Source, Not Just the File Type

An uptick in malware that infects music files being traded on popular peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing networks should give Windows users pause about downloading songs from unknown sources.

Symantec is reporting a spike in the number of audio files infected with what it calls Trojan.Brisv.A (detected as Worm.Win32.GetCodec.a by other antivirus vendors). The malicious software resides in otherwise innocuous-looking music Windows Media Audio (.wma) files that, when opened, changes all .mp3 and .mp3 files on a host system to Windows Media Audio (.wma) format.

  8. Happy birthday for Tuesday Kenny.

A woman always knows when she is getting old when her age is more than her chest size.

Not too sure how this applies for men. :)

I think that when the waist size is bigger than the chest size qualifies. :(

  9. How friggin evil. That is evil. It's like......so friggin evil. Thanks, I did it according to your instructions. But still, it's evil. Damn!

Unpack to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP and CCleaner will clean them at its next run. ;)

  10. The big day is Tuesday and I am going to treat myself to a rare New York Sirloin steak topped with a dash of HP sauce accompanied with a Greek salad without the onions, roast potatoes and garlic bread and if I have enough room I'll have some warmed apple pie with ice cream at Mr. A'a Quick Flame restaurant across the street.

Note: modified steak order as I do not like my steak the flavor of dried shoe leather lathered with ketchup

    Reboot required.

  12. What's the point in posting that link then?

I was hoping Jaxryley would pop in and give a reference as I believe he found it but I am sure it is there somewhere but the malware purveyors are busier than cockroaches in an Bronx N.Y. tenement so it is hard to find at the moment.

  13. Good choice, Yokenny, I agree with 1984 except about the macaroni and cheese. M&C has saved the lives of millions and millions of graduate students. It and peanut butter deserve a place in the food groups.

When I went to university M&C with beef wieners or Cream of Mushroom or Tomato soup with bread was my lunch time diet as I could go home at lunch and whip them up in no time.

Those were the days of burning midnight oil, cramming and no Taliban.
