If you?re not a web developer, the details of this blog post probably aren?t all that interesting for you. I?d like you to know that we?re building IE8 for many different customers (consumers, web service providers, independent software vendors, enterprises, web developers, and others), and we?ll cover more details of the non-developer oriented work (e.g. user experience, reliability, security, etc.) in other posts in the future, after MIX.
While web developers will immediately recognize what Acid2 means, I want to step back and offer some context for other readers of this blog who may not be familiar with web standards. Briefly: Acid2 is one test of how modern browsers work with some specific features across several different web standards.

Overclocking does increase heat, so if you do, you'll have to make sure your processor's cooling is good enough, and that your processor can take it.

Leading up to next week?s public beta-test release of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Release Candidate, Microsoft today has published a 17-page document outlining in fine detail exactly what difference SP1 makes to Vista.
Some of the contents has been shared in bits in the past, but this is so far the most comprehensive ?changelog? we?ve ever seen and probably will see as the final version is not expected to differ much from the RC, with the exception of WGA modifications as described below. I?ve highlighted some of the most interesting changes which you may or may not already know.
another thing Vista Sp1 is about 1.5 gb

need help here guys. im just annoyed by this "NvCplDaemon" Startup entry..anyone knows how to remove it?
-
have 4 items here:
1. ctfmon.exe
2. SiteAdvisor(any advice to this? if i remove this one will there be a conflict when i start my browser?)
3. SpywareTerminator
4. ZoneAlarmClient
-
1.i haven't tried netveda firewall so i can't make suggestions
2. Outpost Firewall is good but I'm using Zone Alarm security suite
3. You can only use one firewall at a time, having two can cause system instabilities.
4. from what I've experience setting "block all" is like locking up all internet access so i recommend that you set your firewall to "Auto-learn" or "Learn Mode"

Windows Live Messenger 9.0 has been leaked to the web and is available for download right here! Version 9.0 is designed as the successor of Windows Live Messenger 8.5 released in its final form at the beginning of November.
The past week, Microsoft began sending out invitations to the private beta testing program of Windows Live Messenger 9.0. Subsequently, on November 27, the Redmond company opened up the beta testing program to a pool of some 5,000 participants. But at the same time, the official Windows Live Messenger 9.0 Beta build 9.0.1407.1107 has been leaked and is up for grabs available to all users

Security company Trend Micro today released an advisory concerning TROJ_AGENT.ADNA, a new Trojan horse which attempts to remove a file usually placed inside Program Files, a folder created by Windows which usually stores the content needed by the installed applications.
According to the advisory, the infection affects most versions of Microsoft's operating system including Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and Server 2003. In addition to the Program Files removal, the Trojan also attempts to modify some registry entries which could change the way your firewall works and make it useless in front of other web attacks.

After a disappointing showing by Windows Vista SP1 (see previous post), we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Windows XP Service Pack 3 (v.3244) delivers a measurable performance boost to this aging desktop OS.
