  6. inPatrol allows you to get a better understanding of what programs are being added to your computer. It monitors important system areas that are commonly altered by many malicious programs. This includes the startup groups (registry and startup folder), cookies and active tasks. You can terminate processes and enable or disable startup programs. The cookie monitoring option allows you to automatically delete cookies based on a keyword found in the cookie name. Additional features include a WHOIS lookup tool and an option to alert you on changes. WinPatrol is easy to understand, yet quiet powerful. As a robust SECURITY MONITOR , WinPatrol will alert you to hijackings, malware attacks and critical changes made to your computer without your permission. WinPatrol PLUS includes our unique R.I.D. technology. As a MULTI PURPOSE SUPPORT UTILITY WinPatrol replaces multiple system utilities with its enhanced functionality. WinPatrol PLUS provides easy to understand descriptions of over 20,000 programs. WinPatrol was the pioneer in using a heuristic behavioral approach to detecting attacks and violations of your computing environment. Traditional security programs scan your hard drive searching for previously identified threats. WinPatrol takes snapshot of your critical system resources and alerts you to any changes that may occur without your knowledge. You'll be removing dangerous new programs while others prepare to update their definition/signature data files. WinPatrol is NOT: 1. Likely to conflict with other security programs you rely on. 2. A huge drain on your system resources or performance. 3. A yearly subscription or program only designed to help if you pay to upgrade. 4. A signature based system that relies on already identified threats. 5. A program that will update itself automatically without your knowledge. 6. Going to connect to the internet unless you explicitly request info. 7. Going to install any addition crap or toolbars on your system. Supports Windows 95 - Windows Vista including Vista 64. What's New with Version 16.0.2009: * New "Recent" tab lets you see new programs and settings recently added to your computer. Especially helpful in finding malware that comes with multiple randomly named files * Increased background performance and reduce conflicts with other programs. * Compatability enhancements to work with Windows Vista and Windows 7 * Monitors and alerts to any changes to User Account Control Settings(UAC). Just like the monitoring your Auto Update settings, these are changes you'll want to know about. * Continues to have the best performance and smallest foot print of any system monitor * Hides individual alert messages and lock settings to prevent potential errors by other computer users. Err..!

Well hello. I don't know where I messed up. Whenever I boot up, The chkdsk runs for E: Drive all the time, no matter what. And on my user account, my desktop is permanently under "Active Desktop Recovery" and the icons have disappeared. No matter what I do, I can't get out of this. The other user accounts work fine. And my Explorer.exe crashes as often as 1crash/min. Oh well, I'm getting a Laptop soon.. So goodbye not-so-old PC! But if anyone could help, it would be much appreciated.! Specs: AMD Phenom Triple Core 2 GB RAM Win XP
  8. What next? Probably nothing. Just run Ccleaner, which you might have already done! And Voila! But keep in Mind what MR. D just said!
  9. Start Menu > Control Panel > User Accounts. ^^Windows XP
  10. My friend, you can check if you have Admin rights in the "User Accounts". Given that you are pretty much new to all this, I would suggest you not to get too worked up. Mr. Dennis is right.
  11. No need. Its pretty hilarious, your reactions. Just CCleaner would do it!
  12. They have huge databases for the thousands of people they provide service to. Look you're getting paranoid for no reason. Just relax. Stay calm.
  13. ISP is not under your reach, mate. Don't worry, seriously. CCleaner does most of the work.
  14. Yes you are 100% safe from your boss/wife/parents. Unless they ask your Internet Service Provider to track what you've been doing
  15. This might have been suggested before. I have no clue. 1. An option to add apps to the startup should be added. Reasons: 2. A separate folder in the CCleaner folder which is dedicated for Registy Fixer Backup Files. A button should be added in the Registry tab which takes you directly to the folder. Something like that? 3. Not so important: A history tab to see how much space, etc. has been cleaned in the last couple of runs. 4. Just IMHO the "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours" should be reduced to 24 hours or say 36 hours. 5. One more thing, A little information could be added to the "Uninstall" module. Like Date Installed, Size. "Sort Apps by Name OR Size, etc" 6. An option when you Right Button click(Disable, Delete) on a startup app line.. which would say "Locate file on Explorer". This should redirect you to the folder where the file is located. 7. Optional warning message in the Registry Cleaner Module which says "Beware, blah blah" 8. A teeny app to clear system memory(RAM) I know. I Know. Won't be considered. Hell (: 9. Right Click on any folder > Clean with CCleaner
  16. That's peculiar. I've heard IE8 slows other apps. But this? O.o
  17. They can be cleaned. Lol. Watched porn?
  18. On Thursday, LiveSide noticed that Microsoft decided to disable access to Windows Live Messenger for users in Cuba, Syria, Iran, Sudan and North Korea. Users from these five countries embargoed by the U.S. will be presented with a dry error message: " Error 810003c1: We were unable to sign you in to the .NET Messenger Service". It is yet unclear whether this startling move was imposed or voluntarily.
