CCleaner does not clear brower history in vista

Recommended Posts

i am having trouble with CCleaner i have the latest version. after i have used CCleaner and then go on the internet using internet explorer 7 when typing www . addresses in it still remembers previous visited pages. anybody else have this problem how can i fix it.

using the normal clear history etc in internet options does the job but CCleaner does not. the idea of CCleaner is so you dont have to mess about cleaning using the windows software.

i am currently using vista by the way.

thanks

Hi, I have the same problem. I put a post in the main CCleaner Discussion area, I should have put it here. I did a "Google" search for "vista index.dat" and got about 214,00 hits. Below are some of the better ones that give information. Microsoft went to considerable lengths to "protect" us.

I am not affiliated with nor do I recommend any software that might be listed in above sites. I have not used or bought any of the software listed, but the pages provide good information. I am just looking for answers to better understand Vista. XP is looking better right now. I am sure CCleaner developers will resolve this issue, it is a superior product. I am just a student who refuses to use Vista to do my online classes at this time. I use an old PC my friend gave to me, running XP. Knowing now what I did not know then, I would have bought a laptop for school without Vista and I would be using XP instead. But since I have Vista I will wait for fixes. I will not buy another copy of XP. It is NO ONES business to see what sites I visit. Yet another freedom we are having taken away in the name of security.
