I've just tried several freeware alternatives, unfortunately, they dont work properly on that nano, either said unknown device or "new version", it seems itunes is the only choice left to me:(
Moderators rridgely Posted November 25, 2006 Moderators Share Posted November 25, 2006 I believe that winamp has an ipod plug in. Also you might want to look here: http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/gmm/fwipod-software.html (its a list of programs specifically for the ipod). Itunes is the main reason that I will not buy an ipod, unless I by a mac first.(Itunes seems to be much better on a mac than it is on windows)

Not only do I have all my music and Podcast on it but can even backup the My Documents folder on my computer to it.

JAGO
You may consider Rockbox for you iPod. It's a firmware update that allows you to play FLAC files. You don't use iTunes at all with it - you just drag the mp3s from your PC to your MP3 player. iTunes is hideous.
JohnDemolition
bad thing about the Rockbox is that a lot of the decoding code is unoptimized which means it will eat up the battery quite quickly @wgan: http://yuo.be/ipod.php the other one is only for foobar2000 0.8.3 sooo....
