Spagman
When "Health Check" runs, it tries to install 2 non-related apps by running their installation app. Always the same two apps. (see attached)
Moderators nukecad Posted June 26, 2022 Moderators Share Posted June 26, 2022 CPUID is from CPU-Z. https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html WinMerge is used to compare files in different versions of applications developed in/for Windows. https://winmerge.org/?lang=en Both are primarily tools that would be used by a developer, or possibly a system mechanic. CCleaner is finding them on your machine and saying there are newer versions than the ones that you already have installed. If you didn't put them there yourself then have you ever had the machine in for repair, or maybe given a "tech support" remote access to your machine? They may have put them there while working and not uninstalled them when finished. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Spagman
Thank you for your reply. I do in fact have both of these apps on the PC. I "updated" both apps and it no longer asks to update "Winmerge". However even with the latest version of "CPUID", I am prompted every time. Although I occasionally use "CPUID", if it turns out to be a pia to fix, I'll just get rid of it. Thank you again!
Spagman
I did notice that the "current version" compare listed in CCleaner is incorrect. The "new version" listed is correct and is the new version and what I have. Thanks!
Moderators nukecad Posted June 27, 2022 Moderators Share Posted June 27, 2022 Yes the version numbers shown, although the same, are being parsed differently for some reason, it does sometimes happen with some softwares depending on how the version number is stored internally. I've flagged this particular one up for someone to take a look at. Obviously if you don't run Software Updater it won't bother you. With Health Check though it runs automatically, and so after the analyze but before 'Make it Better' you will need to click on the 'Security' box and unselect it to prevent Health Check trying to update it. Alternatively you could go offline before running Health Check, if there is no internet connection then it can't try to do it. Or use Custom Clean rather than Health Check, that Just cleans what you have set it to and doesn't run the Software Updater (or 'Startup'). *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Moderators nukecad Posted July 1, 2022 Moderators Share Posted July 1, 2022 @Spagman The Software Updater team say that this issue with CPU-Z version numbering has now been resolved. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'?
