What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to network two computers in your home together? Or are you wanting to access your files from other computers? If you just trying to network your computers together then use the winxp networking wizard.(thats the easiest way)

Look at this:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/n...ng/default.mspx

If your trying to access your files from other computers then look at this:

Another option would be to set up a spare gmail account and use gmail drive and store your files on your mailbox.

The easiest way I think is still to buy a portable hard drive or flash drive and save all your files that you need on multiple pcs on that.

The four fields in an IP address is 0-255, it cant be 593 or 374. ;)

(Maybe you know that, but yeah, anyways :P)

How was that computer accessed?

Via a webbrowser or by mounting a network share in My Computer? or?

Then you need to have "File and Printer Sharing" enabled. Then you right-click on a disk/partition/folder and select "Properties". Then you can select to share it.

Then on the other computer, you open My Computer, select the Tools menu and choose "Map network drive..."

Not entirely sure, but I think they're mostly used for local area networks, but that they can be used over the web too.

Maybe you also click on "My Network Places" icon on the desktop then select "Add Network Place".
