inTechrity
I updated a computer to Win 10 Version 1909. After the update, I tried to update CCleaner from 5.62 to 5.63. This immediately fails (The Installer has stopped working). I have uninstalled 5.62 and now cannot get any version re-installed back on this machine. I am running Bitdefender Total Security and have tried both while running as well as with Security disabled. Both having the same result. The error message is coming from Windows, so I do not believe that the issue is related to anything else. I am able to run the portable version, but this is not a long-term solution. Has anyone run into this and know how to re-install?
Moderators hazelnut Posted November 23, 2019 Moderators Share Posted November 23, 2019 Just try installing the Slim build from here (last in list) instead. https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
inTechrity
Thank you so much @hazelnut. That worked. Any reason as to why the regular installer would not work?

If you have bitdefender set to block PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) it could be flagging the bundled software, which the slim doesn't have. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. inTechrity
I have installed on numerous computers that are running Bitdefender without issue. This happened to be after updating to 1909, which may be coincidental. There was nothing flagged in Bitdefender during installation. The error message was a Windows one. Honestly, I'd rather the slim build anyway as I never opt for additional bundled products.
