Nohrin
I have some deleted images showing up that I would like to be securely deleted, but the error that appears says that they have already been overwritten and are unable to be securely deleted. I used a program called Eraser in the past, which is likely the reason, but judging by the preview, these images have not securely deleted (I could have recovered them with Recuva). I read on the support pages that recuva cannot securely delete overwitten files, so I am wondering why? Is there anyway to shred these deleted images? Am I out of luck? Moderators Augeas Posted December 29, 2017 Moderators Share Posted December 29, 2017 The message is 'Already overwritten by an Existing File'. If you overwrote these clusters you would be overwriting a live file elsewhere, which is not a good thing. The image you can see s from the live file, not the deleted file. If you want to get rid of the entry in the MFT then run CC's Drive Wiper, or Wipe Free Space with Wipe MFT checked.
Nohrin
I see, thank you! Didn't realize those files were still live somewhere.
