All video files...?

I have a external harddrive on which my files "disappeared" (literally was moving some files around and next thing.... all gone)

This is a drive i use on my media player for video. So i ran the deep scan and it found 2200+ files. But I noticed that it only listed like 650 which were all mp4 and avi files. It didn't list any of the mkv video files. Is there a way to get those files back?  Also, I have started to recover the 600 that it found. Does use the same space to recover them on?  or do i run the risk of overwriting the other missing files..??

Thanks

You have a big risk of overwriting the files if you are writing to the source partition at all, you really should recover to a different drive. Can't answer the rest, sorry to say.
