VirusVanquisher
Hello, I am an IT guy for the Dept. of Corrections in ND and Ccleaner is now being blocked by the state's 3rd party security company Palo Alto. Just wanted to bring attention to this matter as I know for a fact Ccleaner is perfectly safe. Also, I have downloaded Ccleaner from filehippo.com for years and now there is a fake site called thefilehippo. Could this site be the cause of recent false flags based on infected versions of Ccleaner from spoof/fake sites?
Moderators Nergal Posted April 13, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 13, 2016 If it's flagged by only a few, it's false positive; if it's flagged by Eset, and maybe one other I don't remember, then it's due to the bundled google or other offers (the slim build doesn't trigger that one) VirusTotal should be looked upon as a majority wins when scanning known software. Honestly, imho, less than 4 is no worry, with more increasing the worry factor proportionally. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
