CCleaner 5.09 crashes VirtualBox entirely, not just the VM

With VirtualBox, I have a VM with Windows XP which has run CCleaner for years. Also, I recently created another XP VM and I put the last version (5.09) to both of them (for the first VM it was an upgrade, for the other it was a clean install).

The thing is, when I open CCleaner from the Recycle Bin shortcut, the CCleaner main window partially opens, it freezes, and the VM crashes, but typically when a VM crashes, it gives a BSOD or some other Windows error message. This time, even the "Box" which contains the VM closes without error message, it just simply closes everything VirtualBox related.

What can I do to properly run CCleaner in my VM?

Is your xp box only service pack 2 and not sp3? There is a Microsoft hotfix if so (though, honestly there is zero readon to avoid service pack 3 at this point, so I'd rather be suggesting that people install the last service pack...which I guess I just did)

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

Here you go

You need this hotfix from Microsoft if you only have SP2 with XP http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=43027&p=260079
