petegoss
I ran ccleaner free for the first time since recently installing Winzip 19 on my PC. The cleaner ran without any errors, but Winzip 19 did not initialize when called. They must have changed something in the new version that makes the clean-up routine deadly. . I've unchecked the winzip box on the cleaner's application tab until there is a fix and re-installed Winzip 19, which now works as expected. Here are the system specs: Vista 64 home premium, sp2 Intel core 2 duo cpu T5850 @ 2.16 ghz, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA Geforce 9300M GS. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has seen this problem. Thanks...
Moderators mta Posted November 8, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 8, 2014 admittedly I'm running WinZip v17, but CC only lists it as Winzip under Utilities, so I guess you are right in assuming WinZip has changed something in v19. running CC with v17 causes no issues on my PC. Moderators Andavari Posted November 9, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 9, 2014 Your CCleaner version is outdated v4.19.4867 is available, although I don't know if updating CCleaner will fix the Winzip 19 issue.
petegoss
Thanks... upgrading did not solve the problem. As soon as the cleaner is run, Winzip19 crashes. This wasn't a problem with the earlier versions of Winzip. I am awaiting a reply from their support team and will let you know what I find out. In the meantime I won't enable Winzip cleaning. petegoss
This is Winzip's reply to my support question so far: Hello Pete, I was asked to research your issue and reply to your message. I have checked the same scenario, but on Windows 7. I do not find any issue occurring. I will also try testing on Vista and will report my results to Development. However, I think it safe to say that CCleaner is removing something it ought not to remove and you are best off leaving WinZip unchecked. --Bill Glenister, WinZip Technical Support Can anyone tell me exactly what CCleaner deletes and from where when the Winzip box is checked on the Applications/Utilities tab? I would like to share this info with the Winzip support team so as to narrow their search and also provide you with enough information to fix the glitch, regardless of which software causes it.
