Guffa
When I start Recuva, an USB drive connected via an USB hub to the computer stops working. There is nothing wrong with the drive, it works just fine. Except when I start Recuva, then the drive stops working and Window says that the USB device malfunctioned. As long as Recuva is open, I can't make the drive work. When I close Recuva I can simply restart the drive again and it works just fine. Starting Recuva against stops the drive, I have done this procedure several times, so it's definitely the program that is the cause, not some random fluke. It's one specific drive, a 1 TB Trekstor drive, when connected through the USB hub, that is stopped by the program. I have two other USB drives connected to the same hub, and they are not affected. If I connect the drive directly to the computer, then it works, but not via the hub. It's not a power shortage in the USB connections, the USB hub has a power supply, and all three drives have their own power supply.
Alan_B
Welcome to the forum. It sounds to me to be a bug in the interaction of your specific hardware including your USB hub or USB drivers or even the version of 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows XP/Vista/etc/etc. Please give specific details of :- The USB HUB, The version of Recuva, the version of Windows, and 32 bit/64 bit system.
