mentorron
I am unable to run a complete Defrag of freespace on my Windows 7 laptop. I have tried twice with same result: the 2nd time I let it run all day but still stayed at 9%. Not sure what to do next. Standard Defrag works fine. I have only 34GB of data on the HD. mentorron
Further to the above: it seems to be stuck on the System Volume Information file whichis about 1.5 GB in length.
mentorron
Well, seems I got lucky: I ran the standard Windows 7 Defragmenter, through all it's many "passes", then tried Defraggler Freespace defrag and this time it worked properly. Not sure what the Windows Defragmenter did differently, but it corrected whatever was wrong. Hopes this helps someone else in future who browses these posts. Alan_B
Welcome to the forum. By successfully defragging System Volume Information you may now expect to save a fraction of a second should you ever need to use System Restore. There may be other benefits that I am not aware of. There is an option to exclude System Volume Information from defragging.
