btamxx
Hi all After searching, I cannot find this problem anywhere else. I perform a deep sdan on a 500 MB drive. The scan takes several hours and completes with over 4 million files. But it never goes beyond that. I have waited several hours after the scan to complete and the scan screen never goes away and nothing ever happens. I have checked my memory and swap files and found that nearly all memory is used and the swap file is over 90% used. So I triple the size of the swap file hoping that it was a problem with the size of the virtual memory file, but it still completes the scan and goes nowhere. Any tips? I have a court date soon and need evidence pix from the drive. I hope you can help. Thanks, Bill Thames
Moderators Augeas Posted August 29, 2013 Moderators Share Posted August 29, 2013 I think you mean 500 gb? I believe that Recuva does all its work in memory, so on very large scans (4 mil files is very large to me) the available memory can get swamped. I can only suggest that you cancel Recuva as soon after stage 1 is completed as possible. This still returns the list of files etc and might reduce the memory requirements. Data evidence cases really need professional disk securing and data retrieval.
