Editable file move mask

Super Fast

Recommended Posts

Defraggler does a great job re-consolidating fragmented files back together, & also the free space.

But fragmentation still exists. Windows has to jump across user files to find system files, & this causes slow-downs in file access.

This can be eliminated by the implementation of user editable file move masks:

_____

I just want to be able to move:

1) C:\Windows to the fastest part of the drive, since 90% of all Windows files are located here

2) C:\Program Files right behind it, since this contains 8% Windows files

3) C:\Users (Vista/7) & Documents & Settings (XP) folder behind those, since about 95% of these are user files

Currently, Defraggler only consolidates fragmented files back together, & free space.

This leaves Windows with a 3rd type of fragmentation where Windows has to span (sometimes huge) user video/music/pictures/other directories & files, just to load the next file needed for a service or Windows function.

_____

By implementing a mask such as above:

1) Windows Files

2) User Files

3) Free Space

It will maximize the speed of the computer, since the fastest you can get is if the Windows directories are in the fastest region of the drive.

User files never contribute (as much) to the loading of Windows, so they can be safely moved directly after the Windows directories.

It will also cause the drive to be the closest to 0% fragmentation of any type that you can ever have.
