CCleaner running for days...is this normal?

I'm not a techie but it seems very odd that it would take several days to run the cleaner. It's on the third day of running almost consecutively. Currently, it's saying:

Advanced

Wipe Free Space - Drive C

About 14 hours, 21 minutes remaining

56% (167,619 MM of 295,527 MB)

System info: MS Windows XP Pro SP3

Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.5GHz, 3.0GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

Any suggestions???

Hi Cleaner1, and welcome to the forum.

1) Cancel the cleaning.

2) Clear the box for Wipe Free Space.

Cleaner > Windows > Advanced > Wipe Free Space.

3) Run the Cleaner again.

If your new to CCleaner, reading the information in the link below would be beneficial.

You'll also find many here on the forum willing to lend a hand. :)

Obviously you have cleaning set at too many passes. I clean at 1 pass.

And I have Wipe Free Space ☐unticked, preferring to use the Drive Wiper/free space, 1 pass.

Your cpu performs at approximately same speed as my AMD 3800. I can wipe 58GB free space in 12 mins, 1 pass, so guessing yours should wipe in <1hr, 1 pass.

Thank you both for your help! I canceled the cleaning, unticked the free space check box, ran cleaner again and it was done in about 10 seconds flat!! Yeah! My system had been running really slow last week so I took it to the computer shop and was instructed there to run the cleaner as I have been doing...most of the weekend! The computer guy also said something about defragmenting my system. That being said, I guess I need to use the Defraggler download, right?

I began the defrag process on the c drive but find it so strange that after a couple of hours I don't see anything changing. I stopped the process to nose around and found that tab labeled Drive C: says Disk Health: ERROR. Any suggestions?
