RJL24
Ccleaner, v 3.05.1409, Windows 7. I sold my Blackberry some time ago and deleted all related software, or so I thought. I had a BB 9700. When I run CCleaner in Tools I still find an entry for Blackberry 9700 and when I attempt to uninstall a message indicates: Cannot delete MSI installer. If I scan the C drive for Research In Motion or Blackberry, nothing comes up that could relate to this phantom MSI installer. From a Blackberry 9700 forum I learned to uninstall registry entries for RIM, and all seem to have been deleted. Yet the "Blackberry Device Software v5.0.0for the Blackberry Smartphone 9700" still appears in the list of installed software, in Ccleaner, v 3.05.1409. See attachment, install.txt, for list of installed software. However, when I go to Control Panel in Windows 7, Programs and Features, nothing shows up related to "Blackberry Device software ..." I do not think this is quirk in Ccleaner, but you guys may have more knowledge than me as to how to eliminate this line "Blackberry Device Software v5.0.0 for the Blackberry Smartphone 9700" in your Tools section. Clicking on delete always gets the same message: "Cannot delete MSI installer" Otherwise, I have used Ccleaner for years now and think the product is much more than terrific. Thanks in advance, RJL24 install.txt
Moderators Andavari Posted April 5, 2011 Moderators Share Posted April 5, 2011 Why not just download the software version you were using, then uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller or IObit Uninstaller to more thoroughly get rid of it.
RJL24
Why not just download the software version you were using, then uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller or IObit Uninstaller to more thoroughly get rid of it. Great idea, except I did not need to reinstall the Blackberry software. I simply installed Revo Uninstaller, and it did the trick, after a couple of passes. Now in Ccleaner, Blackberry does not show. I was able to uninstall, via REVO, a few hundred dead registry entries related to Blackberry. Thanks for your help. RJL
