Can't remove dfsetup201 icon from desktop

When the newest version of Defraggler was announced, I upgraded, no problems. Then when I had an unrelated problem, i used system restore successfully. Of course I had to add, and remove some programs to bring my system back to what I had before system restore. Then when I used Defraggler, the new version needed installing again. Problem occured during download of the update; file already exists. I couldn't delete the dfsetup201 icon, but did remove the entire Defraggler software, using Revo Uninstaller, then successfully downloaded the new version. It works flawlessly as usual. I placed the dfsetup201(2), which completed properly in my unused desktop folder.

I just can't get rid of the dfsetup201 from my desktop. it shows 0kb, and no icon of the cd like the good one.

"Error Deleting File or Folder. Cannot delete dfsetup201: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using this file and try again." It also can't be moved.

I'm using WindowsXP SP3. Thanks in advance. Of course i rebooted the computer and tried again, with no luck.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

A couple of things you could try. Boot into safe mode and try to delete from there.

Or use that great little program Unlocker

Thanks for the warm welcome and the fast reply.

Safe mode didn't help, and unfortunately my AVG Anti Virus warned that Unlocker1.9.0 may be malware? I doubt it, but you inspired me about another program, Moveonboot. Worked perfectly. I was figuring on some command line "wininit...".

This was a much easier solution. Thank you. I'm not sure if there is a way to mark a post as solved.
