100PIER
Hi, Is DEFRAGGLER aware of NOT defragmenting a SSD device (i.e. using W7-64) ? As you know defragmenting a SSD device is not recommended due to shorten the lifetime of the device. Regards,
Moderators DennisD Posted August 17, 2010 Moderators Share Posted August 17, 2010 Hi 100PIER, and welcome to Piriform. I'm pretty sure they're aware of the "wear leveling" techniques employed in this type of data storage, but I can't find any mention of this in the Defraggler documents. If I've missed it, I'd be happy for another member to point it out, as I think this should at least get a mention. Thanks for your input. For anyone interested, there's a lot to be googled about on this subject, and this informative discussion is just one of them: http://sysmannews.com/story/32501
Moderators DennisD Posted August 25, 2010 Moderators Share Posted August 25, 2010 For info, the devs will be including a section in the Defraggler docs re defragging SSD's.
