Unused File Extentsion

Hello CCleaner (Piriform)

My name is Richard and I am a newbie to the forum here. I have been using your CCleaner for a long time now and like to say thank you.

I have used it now for quite a while now with different operating systems and have had no problem with it.

However I did run accross a small problem now and really don't know if it is a big deal or not, but wanted to register with the forum so I could possibly find out if it is a problem or not. When I scan for issues I came up with a Unused File Extension and every time I select the Fix Selected Issues, and I do another scan, the same Unused File Extension comes back. The CCleaner is unable to remove it I guess. When I located the Unused File Extension in the registry I tried to delete it from the registry, but I got a pop up error saying it could not.

I was wondering if someone might know what the problem might be. Is it okay to leave this Unused File Extension?

By the way I am running a Windows 7 premium 64 bit operating system.

Thanks

Rich

Thank you so much hazelnut :)

That did the trick. So Avira was my problem lol

Well I guess this is a security precaution with the Avira anti-virus program. I disable it to remove the Unused file entry then I enable it again.

This is good to know, in case I come up with the same problem again.

Thanks again
