AutoRuns for Windows v9.2

By Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell

Published: May 12, 2008

Introduction

This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services, and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility bundled with Windows Me and XP.

Thanks for the info, Yokenny. What I like to do is just download the entire Sysinternals suite, extract it to the same directory where I had my previous suite and keep the same shortcuts on my desktop. They have so many good utilities that I find myself using one or another again and again.

I especially make use of TCPview, Autoruns, Process Explorer and the Whois command line utility.

The suite can be found here at the bottom of the page (8 mg zip file):

I trust these programs so much that I wouldn't even think of running Zsoft's Uninstaller before starting any of their exe files.
