I've no idea of the technicalities of this, but as soon as I saw HP drivers in the equation, I wonder if you have updated your drivers recently? If not, it might just be a damaged driver.

I googled "de-bug assertion failed hp drivers", and came up with this:

Computer Support - Visual C++:

Exactly your problem.

My first thought was reinstall the drivers, and the suggestion from that link is the same.

In my C:\hp\drivers\LightScribe folder, there's an LS_HSI.msi installer package, which will repair or reinstall your lightscribe driver.

If you select "modify" in that window, you get the option to reinstall.

In C:, hp is a hidden folder. Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View / Show Hidden Files And Folders.

Hope this helps.
