I/O Device Error

I have an external drive attached to my laptap via a USB cable.

The external drive has two partitions.

I was previously using Recuva 1.01.048 and was able to scan both partitions on the external drive and retrieve deleted files.

I just upgraded to Recuva 1.09.194 and now I am getting an error when I try to scan one of the partitions on the external drive.

The progress screen reaches 2%, 90 files found then quits scanning and closes. There is an error message at the bottom of the main screen that says:

The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

I am able to scan the other partition on the external drive, without any error.

I am able to scan the internal drive on my laptop without any error. My internal drive also has two partitions.

My internal drive is formatted as NTSF, each partition is about 50 GB.

The external drive is formatted as FAT32, each partition is about 35 GB.

I've run v1.09.194 in debug mode, here is the log:

For reference, here is the log from v1.01.048:

Although the old log says "Failed to scan drive.", there were no other indications of a problem using the old version.
