    I/O Device Error

I have an external drive attached to my laptap via a USB cable. The external drive has two partitions. I was previously using Recuva 1.01.048 and was able to scan both partitions on the external drive and retrieve deleted files. I just upgraded to Recuva 1.09.194 and now I am getting an error when I try to scan one of the partitions on the external drive. The progress screen reaches 2%, 90 files found then quits scanning and closes. There is an error message at the bottom of the main screen that says: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. I am able to scan the other partition on the external drive, without any error. I am able to scan the internal drive on my laptop without any error. My internal drive also has two partitions. My internal drive is formatted as NTSF, each partition is about 50 GB. The external drive is formatted as FAT32, each partition is about 35 GB. I've run v1.09.194 in debug mode, here is the log: [2007-12-09 19:37:28] [iNFO ] Recuva v1.09.194 [2007-12-09 19:37:28] [iNFO ] System Info: MS Windows XP SP2, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz, 512MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600 [2007-12-09 19:37:30] [iNFO ] No update available [2007-12-09 19:37:38] [iNFO ] Boot sector: 61iQTVNXSU40LjEAAkAmAAIAAAAA+AAAPwD/AL/iXQAYYHMEmSMAAAAAAAACAAAAAQAGAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAIADKQ4YDTJBQ0VSICAgICAgIEZBVDMyICAgM8mO0bz0e47Bjtm9AHyITgKKVkC0CM0T cwW5//+K8WYPtsZAZg+20YDiP/fihs3A7QZBZg+3yWb34WaJRviDfhYAdTiDfioAdzJmi0YcZoPA DLsAgLkBAOgrAOlIA6D6fbR9i/CshMB0Fzz/dAm0DrsHAM0Q6+6g+33r5aD5fevgmM0WzRlmYGY7 RvgPgkoAZmoAZlAGU2ZoEAABAIB+AgAPhSAAtEG7qlWKVkDNEw+CHACB+1WqD4UUAPbBAQ+EDQD+ RgK0QopWQIv0zROw+WZYZlhmWGZY6ypmM9JmD7dOGGb38f7Cispmi9BmweoQ93YahtaKVkCK6MDk BgrMuAECzRNmYQ+CVP+BwwACZkBJD4Vx/8NOVExEUiAgICAgIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANCk5UTERSIGlzIG1pc3Npbmf/DQpEaXNrIGVy cm9y/w0KUHJlc3MgYW55IGtleSB0byByZXN0YXJ0DQoAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKy/zAAAVao= [2007-12-09 19:38:47] [ERROR] The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. For reference, here is the log from v1.01.048: Recuva v48 =========== System Info: MS Windows XP SP2, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz, 512MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600x? [0:36:21] ErrorNo: 1392 OtherInfo:cundelete_recdrv1 Error No:1392 ErrorInfo:Failed to scan drive. Although the old log says "Failed to scan drive.", there were no other indications of a problem using the old version.
