  1. I agree with 'Andavari'. As long force "Analyze" before running "Cleaner" is a selectable option in settings, it might be good for some . I generally know where I have been and what will be deleated without Analyzing. Let the user maintain control.
  2. How close have we examined the ccleanersetup.exe files? All the way back to cc133setup, ytb2.exe was included in the $temp directory and the setup file size is 1459KB. Version 1.36 has ytb2.exe as well,ytb2.exe is 978KB in size, uncompressed. Version 1.38 "Full" setup file size is 2623KB,with ytb3.exe is 2188KB, uncompressed. Version 1.38 "SLIM" is 450KB. In cc138setup.exe, there are 32 language files ranging from 12KB to 23KB for a total of 645 KB, these files are uncompressed. The Yahoo! Tool Bar is ytb3.exe and is 2188KB, uncompressed. In the slim setup.exe for v1.38 there is only the one language file, the lang-1033.dll. The MD5 Hash Check Sum values are the same,as expected. 86F6CC239F7D981B7E399D6C3055035A CCleaner.exe full 589KB. 86F6CC239F7D981B7E399D6C3055035A CCleaner.exe slim 589KB. I originally started using with version 1.33. The current version 1.38, I installed w/o the toolbar. So what does this mean? You decide but seems to me like sometimes we complain to much and the complaint should not be the inclusion of the Yahoo! Tool Bar but only setup file size, which is a combination of the newer ytb3.exe and all language options. When you run the "FULL" setup file, the first thing it asks is "Which Language" and only installs the one selected, the other language files are not used or coppied to the computer. When the "SLIM" setup is run,it simply asks if you "want to run this program" Maybe we should ask for "SLIM" versions on all future releases. We still have the choice on What options to install, we are still in control. The martians haven't landed yet. Upon further inspection, Yahoo! Tool Bar was included starting way way back on February 7, 2006 in version 1.27.255 Beta. It included ytb.exe. I can't believe there is so much complaining over an extra click to not have Yahoo! Tool Bar installed. After all it's FREE. I guess they could make it shareware with a fee to save us all a click. We have to learn not to be lazy and carefully read before clicking. The Eagles had a great song that applies, "Get Over It". (Used 7Zip, www.filehippo.com, to view the files and www.2brightsparks.com free "hash on click" for hash check sums.)
  3. Somtimes I would like to clean Only the cookies. It would be nice to have a button between "Analyzize" and "Run Cleaner" on the Cleaner page that would only clean cookies except those in the protected list. Maybe have a select point where Analyze only does the cookies and then Clean only cleans the cookies. Thank you, great product.
  4. I like the Registry Cleaner. It has never suggested deleating/cleaning an item that has caused a problem later. Some other aggressive cleaners cause potential problems. I accidently ran CCleaner's Registry Cleaner a second time and it found more issues so I ran it a third time and again it found yet more issues. The fourth run found no issues. So now I intentially run it until no issues are found, It never needs more than three runs. Sometimes it finds more issues sometimes not. It doesn't cause a problem, just curious why and if others have seen this. Thank you
  5. Hi Please reread my questions. I REREAD ALL of your responses NO WHERE do you specify which processes you are using, yet statements indicate you are using both. Again they are 2 seperate processes that are run seperately. If it appears to be the "Cleaner", try unselecting one item at a time to help further eliminate possibilities or Find the particular item that might be causing the problem. Since you have 2 other machines try using the larger memory from one of the other PC's to eliminate that issue. If the memory is the same type. It might fix it, it might not, but we will know. We are trying to help you, but you must be willing to work with us and try some of these suggestions that many are making. To solve any problem we must go through the process of elimination based on trying and facts not supposition. Good luck, enjoy the challange/opportunity of solving this. Thank you.
  6. Hello,Please clarify which CCleaner process/es you are running. The "Cleaner",which can clean Old prefetch data and variuos files, but NO registry entries, OR "Issues" which is the registry cleaner. They are seperate processes and run seperately. If you are running both, maybe try running just one and see the effects to try to better point to which process is causing the problem. ME and 2000 handle memory much better than 98.
  7. Where, or what file, are CCleaner Settings stored? I would like to back them up. Maybe an option switch/check mark to backup settings to a browsed folder? Thank you GREAT PRODUCT
  8. Windows relates to the three letter extension and associates the extension with one program. It can not distinguish .dat files from different programs because they all have the same extension. Another fix could be to goto "WINDOWS EXPLORER" (NOT Internet Explorer) and click tools-> folder options->file types. Scroll down to the extension you want and change "open with" if desired. The three letter extension is being modified to include four letter extensions in Microsoft Office 2007 (see http://filext.com/ and http://www.fileinfo.net/)
  9. A great feature in CCleaner is under OPTIONS->CUSTOM. There you can add individual files or whole folders to be cleaned. Plus under the "Cleaner Windows" tab, the Custom option can be selected on or off,via the check box,at each run.
  10. Wish list to delete internet logs?? Is it feasable to add a new Application Feature that deletes the logs in the "WINDOWS->INTERNET LOGS" Directory? Specifically Zone Alarm files ---------------------------- BACKUP.RDB fwdbglog.txt fwpktlog.txt IAMDB.RDB (computer name).ldb tvDebug.log ZALog.txt ---------------------------- These filrs are not deleted if under applications, Zone Alarm is checked. It appear as if CCleaner trys to delete only ZALog.txt They are protected by vsmon.exe service. Would like to see a clickable option for these. Thank you
  11. It might be do to the fact thar some files can not be deleted until a reboot. All of the index.dat files are tagged/marked for deletion but can not be deleted until a reboot. Windows creates new index.dat files after reboot. Try check marking OPTIONS->ADVANCED "Show detailed log of Internet Explorer temporary files" That will help explain it. Good observation!!!
