  1. ... and as for MS Calculator Plus. You should not need to move anything into the Windows folder for it to work.

    I just downloaded it to have a look. Double-click the msi-file, and the application is installed, adding a shortcut in Start Menu which will successfully launch the application, just like it should. I'm a bit puzzled as why it closes all by itself on your end....

    Yeah it is really confusing me too. :(

  2. Yeah, so today.. I went to use my calculator only to find that it is missing. I downloaded "Microsoft Calculator Plus", and installed it. I was using this program which has a calculator shortcut. I clicked the button and the program just closed. The reason is because the calculator is not installed in the windows folder. Where is the location of the Windows Calculator, and how would I put it in the right folder?

  3. What I've seen it's all over the place, this is just three of them though:

    In any event even my slow Qwest DSL is better than the dial-up I had just last year.

    Hmm, that's weird. I guess it's just like that for some people. A few people said it varied and some said it was quite consistent. :blink:

    Didn't mean to start an argument by the way. :)

  4. I wasn't the one who stated they weren't reliable to begin with so start reading the whole threads. Doing the tests on multiple sites always give something totally different:

    * http://www.numion.com/

    * http://us.mcafee.com/root/speedometer/default.asp

    Alright, first off.. I did read the whole thread. Thanks for assuming I didn't.

    Second, you basically did say they weren't reliable by (pretty much) backing up the fact that someone else said they weren't.

    Third off, I've tested on at least 5 sites and all of them have come back within 10-50 kb/s off.

  5. I got 8Mb/1Mb ADSL connection. My Telewell ADSL card software (ADSL Diagnostic Tools) shows: UP:896, DN:8064. I pay 49? a month.

    Those speedtests are not very reliable. You get different results, with different tests and results may vary using same test.

    I've tested numerous times, never had a result vary.

    Not in the slightest.

    *EDIT* I'm not saying it couldn't vary, testing from the same location, but I've never had it happen.

  6. My down speed sucks! And like CeeCee said these tests are not reliable. :(

    Actually, as far as my knowledge goes and what I have heard, Speedtest.net is one of the more accurate internet speed test websites out there.

    Before you go out and say it's not reliable, you should at least post some proof as to why it isn't.

  7. If you click "Options" and then "Advanced", there is an option to "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours."

    I was going to uncheck this box, but seeing as I don't know if it would hurt or not, I decided to ask.

    Would it cause any problems to uncheck it?

    Meaning it will delete all the files in Windows Temp folder even if they are not older than 48 hours.

  8. Wow. It's quite pathetic, in my opinion, that Microsoft wants to make a new OS and talk of how good it is.. but I can't even get my updates installed. I mean damn, those idiots are getting paid how much..? This is madness, and that's all there is to it.

    In the mean time, I suppose I will have to wait till those monkeys at Microsoft decide to stop picking each others butt all day and work. :blink:

  9. Alright, I'm using Vista Premium and I turn on my laptop this morning to see that I have 6 updates waiting. I download them and install them. It asks me to reboot, so I do, and then I log on only to find the updates have failed.

    If anyone is using Vista, my question is.. did you have this problem?

    Also, what am I supposed to do if they keep failing? <_<

    Thanks

  10. Well I checked and I can honestly say that I am not aware if the HD is working or not. I don't want to say it's not working, and I don't want to confirm that it is. The only reason leading me to believe it is fine, is the fact that everything else is working.

  11. Case fan is moving, heatsink is moving. Video card is not giving signal (though it is integrated, so if the heatsink is moving, that leads me to believe the video is fine). I will check right now to see if the HD sounds like it is working.

  12. Alright, so here is the story.. my mom used the computer and went grocery shopping. When she came back, all the clocks were reset which indicates a power outage. Her computer was on during this time. Now when you plug the computer in and push the power button it wont light up. The cd drive will open which says it has power.. but it won't give signal on the monitor. Also, when I plug the computer in.. it turns on by itself. What could be wrong?

    My guess right now, (from all the inspecting Ive done of it), is that the power supply is probably fried. I mean it will turn on, only the cd drive opens, and it won't like fully power up.

    The thing that is keeping me from ordering a new one though is.. if the power supply is fried, could any other parts be fried? Mainly the video card because it won't give any signal. However that could be from the lack of power from the power supply because it is fried. Also, the HD. I cannot confirm that the HD is broken though because I have no computer to test it on.
