Filehippo is one site that I check at least once in some cases twice a day.
The new look does have a smoother feeling to it though and the new main page category breakup does make it easy to find what you're looking for and not clutter the main page.
Compare the new look of Filehippo with this site that does the exact same thing.
In my opinion Filehippo is better... -
Hey all,
Was wondering, I know this Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\ entrie is used for 32bit systems and this Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node with 64bit systems.
I just did a test with Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\ and Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node where the software was installed under Wow6432Node and CCleaner entrie was Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\, the entrie worked.
Now my question is: Why do we add Detect1=HKLM\SOFTWARE\ and Detect2=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node then to a entrie ?

New Language file entry.
[sUPERAntiSpyware (Lng)*] Section=Language Files Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\SUPERAntiSpyware.com\SUPERAntiSpyware Default=False Warning=This will delete all language files excluding English. Question Winapp2:
Can you perhaps make one file of all the Lanuage Files entries obtained ?
I am sure there are a couple of people that will contribute as well to that file.

Most antivirus' have to be fully turned off to delete logs, backup files, etc., and I'm not just talking about their services their drivers have to also be stopped - something which Nirsoft ServiWin can do. Maybe that's why someone wrote it, but I don't know.
Makes sense.
Looks like ESET creates an eScan folder within the Log folder that contains some .dat files that can be deleted.
Message from ESET :
“You should be able to delete the folder updfiles but I would recommend to do this in safe mode for the antivirus package alternatively if you wish to delete the updfiles folder for ESET Remote Administrator then remeber to stop the ERA service.”

Note: FileKey2 in both entries, the log .dat files can't be deleted; why the first person added it I have no idea.
Can someone please just check if it contains more than the .dat files. Seeing mine only contains the .dat files can’t test FileKey2.
IF so then leave as is if not remove FileKey2 then.

Hav0c,
I believe 'HitManPro' in your 'Section=Games' example refers to the malware detection and removal program, not the PC Game.
Great 'Section=Games 'idea... I have edited my ini file accordingly.
Thanks for the correction.
If [HitManPro*] has been changed to Games then it sould be change back to LangSecRef=3024
That brings up another point for me. Personally for removal of language files I refuse to write them under "Misc Fixes" because it seems very odd to me to put them under that area. I've been putting all of mine I make under "Section=Language Files" because it's clear and concise as to what type of cleaner it is.
Good point,
I am sure that Winapp2 will pick this up and do the necessary changes. Don’t think it is needed to repost all the Language entries just to show one change ?.
-
That can be done, but it wont have a nice little icon (something I believe has to be hardcoded into CCleaner)
I would love to move the games into a dedicated game section, but it'd look a little sloppy without the icon. I moved them all to Applications because at one point, a while back, they were scattered across everything.
Practicality vs "look and feel" is what I always look at.
Granted that there will be no little icon but finding all the games under one section is way better and sacrificing a small icon for practicality, I would do that gladly and sure that most users will as well.
Practical example:
League of Legends is it a Application or is it a Internet entry ? decisions, decisions.
But it is a game none the less. So put it under Game section.

Question:
Why are the game entries within Winapp2.ini allocated under LangSecRef: 3021 = Applications ?
Can’t we create a new section “Games” like we are doing with the “Misc Fixes” ?

Verified this by renaming my translations folder.

Much too complicated.I guarantee that 99% of users will be confused and do this wrong.
If the warning was to complicated any suggestion then ??
The users of Winapp2.ini should have more knowledge and understanding about computers and that message was given to me from Eset them self when asked. The warning should be added to ESET Smart Security entrie as well !!
So single-handed you have burdened 354626 computers with 69.45 Gb of extra files
Wonder if you took in to consideration that some people download the file more than once ?
Unless the counter counts unique IP addresses and not actual downloads.
-
New Entrie.
[ESET NOD32 Antivirus*] LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\ESET\ESET Security Default=False FileKey1=%CommonAppData%\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Updfiles\temp|*.* FileKey2=%CommonAppData%\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Updfiles\oldfiles|*.* FileKey3=%CommonAppData%\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Logs|*.*|RECURSE FileKey4=%CommonAppData%\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Oldfiles|*.*|RECURSE
Think to add a warrning like:
Recommend to do this in safe mode for the antivirus package alternatively if you wish to delete the updfiles folder for ESET Remote Administrator then remeber to stop the ERA service.
What do you think ?

Okay when one looks at it in the time spend in getting the location of the application using the registry makes a lot of sense vs giving it the set path instead. Thanks for pointing that out
Well then looks like I have to make 2 files, one with only my applications correct paths and only update as needed when a new winapp2.ini comes out.
Going to take some work
-
what do you mean registry keys as paths? Your replies really seem little to do with this thread, please start your own if your going to ask outside of the winapp2 questions. Also please run the export command line and look through the inbuilt rules
Actually it does have to does with winapp2.ini. Okay, I have to admit my post was a bit unclear regarding the registry keys as paths.
What I meant was for FileKey to use the registry keys to get the path of the application that is installed to be cleaned.
Example: FileKey1=(registry key path) \ Files to be cleaned
Currently I have to change a lot of winapp2.ini entries manually to point to my applications paths every time a update is available.
He means transferring from DetectFiles to Detects, and I still try to. If you have any changes, they're appreciated.
. Will wait for the new version to see what has been updated to Detect and see if I can help with the remaining DetectFiles. Maybe add some new once later on.

What other application? Those entries aren't even in the winapp2.ini file that's in this thread.
Applications is called Tracks Eraser Pro, it has a lot of plug-ins as well to use.
Yes the enties is not in winapp2.ini. I was in the process of making them but as seen in the above post it seems that they are files being used.
CCleaner can't delete files in use, also make sure you've unchecked only clean temp files older than 24 hours.
Makes sence as Tracks Eraser Pro is a bit on the aggressive side
Does anyone know if its in the pipeline to use the registry keys as paths ?
I know it was mentioned somewhere here but it was a while back.
A good use for your old floppy drives
