  3. I'm also using this program since the first build. The entry you have suggested will remove all of the snapshots at once compared to the one in the program in which you can delete the ones you want.

Yup, it sure will... as the 'Warning' advises...

If you don't want to delete them, don't check the entry.

  4. I have an easy potential solution to the problem.

Do not delete the files but replace them with short files that have the same names.

It is possible that even zero length files might be acceptable replacements.

This also works with some games, such as Grand Theft Auto, that have lengthy intros.

The intro video can be replaced with an empty one of same name and extention.

  5. Removing the 'SysTracerLog' won't corrupt anything...

Here is the content of my generated SysTracerLog of 4 snapshots.

It is simple information which has no bearing on working with any snapshot(s), their comparison, view, or export. There is no snapshot ID to associate any log content to a particular snapshot..

All snapshot information is read from the snapshot not the log. That info is already in the snapshot. The log is redundant , unnecessary, and has no check for growth. It could vaguely tell of a thousand snapshots which don't even exist; as they were deleted long ago.

I have used this program extensively for years, and have never encountered the scenerio you suggest.

    Snapshot done in 00:02
    74 reg keys, 91 values
    0 folders, 0 files
    0 apps, 0 dlls

    Snapshot done in 00:01
    0 reg keys, 0 values
    1 folders, 5 files
    0 apps, 0 dlls

    Snapshot done in 00:13
    0 reg keys, 0 values
    1,624 folders, 10,367 files
    0 apps, 0 dlls

    Snapshot done in 00:02
    74 reg keys, 91 values
    0 folders, 0 files
    0 apps, 0 dlls

The program doesn't auto track any registry or system changes. The user manually takes 'snapshots' which SysTracer Pro can compare, display differences, and export results if the user chooses.

SysTracer's GUI also has a button to delete snapshots. I quess it makes sense to the author also.

When I have finished determining differences in snapshots I delete them.

I've added 'Warning' for you. I had thought the name of the entry self-explanatory.

  7. Sorry to cause you testing, I just remember something being posted a while ago about problems arising from deleting the scan log, just didn't realise it was from 2010.

The last time I used ClamWin Portable which was months ago the defs were under 100MB, if I'm remembering correctly. I always end up deleting it off the system due to so many false positives.

Don't be sorry, I appreciate the need to get things right. I post thinking to myself, "Have at 'er boys!" , anticipating scrutiny.

If I clear the cut I'm happy. Better to have you guys challenge an entry than numerous POed users after Winapp2 posts.

    - Modified FileKey1 to include additional installations log files

Recommend removal of Realtek Card Reader entry below. It becomes redundant:

  9. Remember a while ago when ClamWin/Clam Antivirus was deeming just about every .exe on system as infected? If the log files were still intact the users could restore their files, if not their systems were hosed.

After repeated testing, the entries below are fine as is...

ClamWin did quarantine several files; though false-positve.

The quarantine logs are now stored in the Quarantine folder. 'Quarantine Browser' aka 'QRecover' is used to view content, log, and delete, or restore files.

Deletion of the other log files had no bearing upon quarantined file recovery, etc. Everything restored fine after running the entry.

The restoration issues you mention date back to version 0.96.4 in 2010. This has been resolved. ClamScanLog.txt is no longer used for restoration.

    Sidenote:

This AV used extremely low resources, but used 749 MB drive space (mostly AV definitions)  and has very aggressive heuristics.

  10. Remember a while ago when ClamWin/Clam Antivirus was deeming just about every .exe on system as infected? If the log files were still intact the users could restore their files, if not their systems were hosed.

I see there are some previous concerns regarding 'ClamScanLog.txt' mentioned in their forum.

Damn, when I get home from work I'll reinstall ClamWin and test that scenerio to qualify the rule or not.

    Thanks I didn't foresee that.

Yes, my apologies... think I got it from an earlier post.

I'd been deleting the folder via 'Include' in CCleaner til I saw the entry posted.  Don't know why I never got around to it myself.

Anyway... it works fine. No issues whatsoever:

    Doesn't FileKey1 make your new additions of FileKey2 & 3 redundant?

I want to stay the compatible to old versions !!!

I understand your addition of Detect2

I am saying your addition of FileKey2 is redundant.

Assuming .log.* is meant to be .log FileKey3 would be unnecessary also. If not, what is   .log.*   ?
