  1. @Winapp2.ini I think the proper way to name entries should be based off of their names in the Start Menu, which is how we had it and what other programs do. Someone has recently started changing those names and is damaging all the hard work I, and other people here, have done.
  2. So then this applies to you also for "%LocalAppData%\Packages\*\AC\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache|*.*" or this statement is just for me?
  3. Sure, here is another statement. How about a bunch of AppCache**.txt files? Have you opened one of them to see what they have in them?
  4. Deleting these .txt files from that location in Cortana doesn't break Cortana. Have you tried this yourself? If I had control of the Winapp2.ini file, like you, I would test each and every entry myself.
  5. New Entry To remove opened files history, user.config file should be deleted. Deleting user.config file will also reset Windows PowerShell ISE to its defaults. [Windows PowerShell ISE *] LangSecRef=3025 Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Default=False FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft_Corporation\PowerShell_ISE.exe_*\*|user.config FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft_Corporation\PowerShell_ISE.exe_*\*\AutoSaveFiles|*.*|RECURSE FileKey3=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft_Corporation\PowerShell_ISE.exe_*\*\AutoSaveInformation|*.*|RECURSE
  6. I think yours is more professional.

  8. 9. Revised Entry There is no harm in deleting files with the .txt extension from %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalState\DeviceSearchCache Short paths like "\*Cache" or "\INet*" should not be used. I don't know of any other privacy cleaning programs that use this pattern. Filekey1 thru 6 has "\Microsoft.*Cortana_*" and Filekey7 thru 9 has "Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*". I wonder why? Removed: ExcludeKey1=PATH|%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalState\DeviceSearchCache\|*.* Changed: %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalState\*Cache|*.*|RECURSE to %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalState\Cache|*.*|RECURSE Added: %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalState\DeviceSearchCache|*.txt [Cortana *] LangSecRef=3031 Detect1=HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\SystemAppData\Microsoft.Cortana_8wekyb3d8bbwe Detect2=HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\SystemAppData\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy Default=False FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.*Cortana_*\AC\AppCache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.*Cortana_*\AC\INet*|*.*|RECURSE FileKey3=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.*Cortana_*\AC\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\*|*.*|RECURSE FileKey4=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.*Cortana_*\AC\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\DOMStore|*.*|RECURSE FileKey5=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.*Cortana_*\AC\Temp|*.*|RECURSE FileKey6=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.*Cortana_*\TempState|*.*|RECURSE FileKey7=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalCache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey8=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalState\Cache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey9=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalState\DeviceSearchCache|*.txt
  10. Looks like there is a Tsunami in this thread. Why do we have to add "NVIDIA Corporation/NV_Cache" location in all the Microsoft Store apps? NVIDIA Shader Cache (NVIDIA Corporation/NV_Cache) files get created into "%LocalAppData%\Temp" and some apps' Temp folders. We already have Microsoft Store apps' Temp locations covered in the app entries. NVIDIA Shader Cache does not target all apps. If someone is having NVIDIA Shader Cache files created in other locations, there is some thing wrong with their NVIDIA driver installation. They would need a clean install of the driver. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/738794/hello-and-how-to-remove-folder-/ https://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/nvidia-cards-and-the-shader-cache-in-windows/1573020 The owner of Winapp2.ini should take control back. It was so nice before and It is getting so annoying now. Everyday, some people start something weird here.
  11. Program names should be shown in the same way they are shown in the Windows Start menu or the Windows Uninstall section. The Weather app shortcut in Start menu is Weather and in the Windows Uninstall section, it is listed as Weather as well. So the proper name is Weather. This is the same case for the Camera app, for which the name in the Microsoft Store is Windows Camera, but in the Uninstall section and Start menu, it is listed as Camera.
  12. The Microsoft Store Weather app is listed in Start Menu as "Weather". So I think the entry name should just be Weather.
  13. Revised Entry Removed: %AppData%\Notepad++\plugins\config|PluginManagerGpup.xml;PluginManagerPlugins.xml;PluginManagerPlugins.zip %ProgramFiles%\Notepad++\plugins\disabled|*.* [Notepad++ *] LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\Software\Notepad++ Default=False FileKey1=%AppData%\Notepad++\plugins\config\plugin_install_temp|*.*|REMOVESELF [Notepad++ Backups *] entry should be removed.
  14. Why not? I already mentioned that some of the traces in those entries are locked and cannot be wiped. Not all programs leave error logs in Event Viewer.
  15. I’m not taking it personally, but it’s hard work. Some people here make smaller things seem much bigger, without understanding the context behind it. All known privacy cleaner programs wipe these traces in Windows Search. These traces can hold all search related things, which is a privacy concern.
  16. Revised Entry Added: FileKey2 [Adobe Reader DC *] LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC Default=False FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Adobe\Acrobat\DC|UserCache.bin FileKey2=%AppData%\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\Security\CRLCache|*.*|RECURSE RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\AVConversionFromPDF RegKey2=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\AVConversionToPDF RegKey3=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\AVGeneral\cDockables RegKey4=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\AVGeneral\cRecentToolsList RegKey5=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\AVGeneral\cToolbars RegKey6=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\RememberedViews\cNoCategoryFiles RegKey7=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\ShareIdentity RegKey8=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Adobe Synchronizer\DC
  17. @APMichael Like I said before, CCleaner can't wipe some of the traces in the entries listed below successfully because some of the traces are locked by Windows or programs similar to MS Search. Let's remove all of these. Internet Explorer Microsoft Edge Cortana Cached File Extensions Compatibility Assistant Delivery Optimization Fonts Cache Icon Cache Jump Lists LocalService LocalSystem Microsoft Store NetworkService Plex Media Server Power Efficiency Diagnostics Push Notifications TeamViewer Windows Error Reporting Windows Logs Windows ShellBags Windows Subsystems Windows Update
  18. We are making a mistake removing FileKeys related to Search Stream logs and Search Indexing traces. They hold information about searches.
  19. The programs I mentioned in my previous post wipe the traces and then restart the system to wipe files locked by Windows or other programs.
  20. Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, some Microsoft Store apps, Cached File Extensions, Compatibility Assistant, Delivery Optimization, Fonts Cache, Icon Cache, Jump Lists, LocalService, LocalSystem, MS Search, NetworkService, Power Efficiency Diagnostics, Push Notifications, Windows Error Reporting, Windows Logs, Windows ShellBags, Windows Subsystems, Windows Update and some built-in CCleaner entries require the system to be restarted to wipe those traces successfully. If we take these entries out from CCleaner and Winapp2.ini, what will we have left? On one hand, you have Winapp3.ini to destroy programs’ functionality and on the other hand, you cannot accept entries that won’t break programs’ functionality, but just require a system restart to get them to work properly. By the way, I always wipe PropMap and SecStore in Windows Search and I have never gotten any errors related to Search in Event Viewer. The only time I get errors in Event Viewer is when I try to wipe Windows.edb from Windows Search.
  21. [MS Search *] entry does not work as expected because some of the files require the system to be restarted to be wiped and CCleaner does not have that option. This entry works fine in Windows Safe Mode. I think all of the FileKey’s and RegKey’s in the current entry should stay. These traces should be wiped including PropMap and SecStore. All known privacy cleaner programs, like R-Wipe & Clean and east-tec Eraser wipe these traces. Entries or part of the entries that require the system to restart should not be moved to Winapp3.ini just because of this.
  22. New Entry [Complete Internet Repair *] LangSecRef=3024 DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\Rizonesoft\Complete Internet Repair\ComIntRep.exe Default=False FileKey1=%AppData%\Rizonesoft\ComIntRep\Logging|*.*|RECURSE
  23. It is not a wise idea to test entries against Windows Insider Preview.
  24. Revised Entry Changed name from [Get Started *] to [Tips *] Added FileKey2 [Tips *] DetectOS=10.0| LangSecRef=3031 Detect=HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\SystemAppData\Microsoft.Getstarted_8wekyb3d8bbwe Default=False FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Getstarted_*\AC\INet*|*.*|RECURSE FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Getstarted_*\AC\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\*|*.*|RECURSE FileKey3=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Getstarted_*\AC\Temp|*.*|RECURSE FileKey4=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Getstarted_*\LocalCache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey5=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Getstarted_*\LocalState\Cache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey6=%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Getstarted_*\TempState|*.*|RECURSE
