  1. Dear Gail,

I know this is somewhat belated but we have been having personal issues that prevented writing to you. Although I have not had the pleasure of reading or speaking with you I offer my feelings.

Words are difficult during times such as you are experiencing but I would like to join my brothers and sisters on this forum in wishing you well. While I am relatively new to the family I have found them to be so caring and understanding.

I can relate to your situation but I can never know how you feel. For over fourteen months we went through the same trials with one of my wife's brothers. We maintained hope that he would recover but he did not. Please maintain hope as miracles do occur even under the worst conditions.

Gail, please know that you will remain in our prayers and please feel free to contact us any time you wish. With love,

  2. Please everybody, you're giving me a headache. I'm holed up in this cold. Can't even get out for staples due to the ice and the Mrs. just busted her "arse" trying to take the trash out. Anybody like me knows all this weather stuff is a Pinko Communist Plot. Now if you will excuse me I'm going to finish watching "The Manchurian Candidate." I'm just kidding all of you. Take care my dear friends.

  3. Indeed I have, almost daily. :P

Slowday, I feel the same as you, a british accent is pleasant, the speaker always seems more clever and witty.

It's good to know I'm not alone. I love the British accent; it's soothing and the "mate" slays me. Refreshing break from some of the briarhopper, grammar butchering speech I've had to endure. Good day to you.

  4. ... Sir Anthony Hopkins as my psychiatrist. :o

Hugh Laurie does such a good job of it I didn't know he was British 'till somebody told me. :-)

    Hi Login,

I didn't know Hugh was British either until I ran his bio up one day. By the way, Sir Anthony Hopkins portrayed the evil Dr. Hannibal Lecter in "Silence of the Lambs." Have you ever wished you had never poked your nose into a thread and could make your post disappear? Think I'll go soak my head. LOL Take care and have a good one.

  5. I don't mind most American accents but there's something about Beyonc? Knowles that really annoys me.

I've been to many states: Texas, California, Las Vegas, Miami, New York but if I had to choose I think New York is my favourite.

Now I have a question for Americans involving a well known British actor Hugh Laurie who plays a doctor in the TV series House.

I have no issues with Hugh's acting abilities, however I'm not so sure about his American accent he sounds a little weird.

    Does he sound American enough??

    Hello All,

redhawk, I was just running my CCleaner and really did not intend to sign on, just quickly peruse the forum. When I saw your post concerning Hugh Laurie I just could not restrain myself. House is at the very top of my favorites along with JAG. If my t.v. ever went out during an episode I would probably have a myocardial infarction. Dr. Gregory House is listed on my emergency medical information as my diagnostician and Sir Anthony Hopkins as my psychiatrist. Hugh's accent is as American as one can get and would fit in almost anywhere here in the states. His acting simply keeps me in stitches and I never miss a marathon. Nothing else is allowed to go on in this house during that time. Hugh's barking orders and sniping at everyone reminds me of my First Sergeant who saved my life years ago. Take care and have a good one.

  6. I have to agree with the OP here. I don't come here near as much as I used to due to life/family/work time committments but every time I come back I see a well put together site, with a great team of fair moderators that do an excellent job. I love this site and see it as a great warm community with valuable information and great people as members. A place to come and discuss ideas and thoughts without the usual forum spam, trolls, and negative comments about each other. Piriform makes some absolutely great products and MrG has chosen the cream of the crop in mods, so once again thanks to all that keep this site flourishing and a welcoming community. :)

    Hi 1984,

Don't believe we've crossed paths but hello. I'll certainly keep an eye peeled for your posts. Any affiliation with Orwell? LOL Have a good one.

  7. they do pay $20 for a hammer LOL

So why do all theirs do at least 3 passes though?

I worked in Quartermaster as part of my military career. I've seen $320.00 shelled out for a ball peen hammer and $660.00 for a toilet seat. Got to go. See all you good folks later.

  8. Hope this is the right way to do this. Christmas presents come in many forms and one of the best we could get is to have Dennis back on the forum. We'll fore go making him wear a big red ribbon around his neck.

  9. The Lounge was closed.:P Hazelnut noticed a guy in a Santa suit that suspiciously looked like MrG with a cherished gold laptop so she made me lock the doors and ran after him because she really wants that laptop. I don't know if she caught him yet because he was really fast and crafty on those roller blades doing rail slides and such.

Andavari, you've caused me to take an anti-hysteria pill. I can see this is one big, happy family. Take care my friend.

  10.

Hi Warlock, glad to hear you're doing well.

    Hi Nergal,

What's the "blush"? Not necessary, you're deserving. Besides, anyone with your avatar "growls" LOL. I'll be better after Xmas is over with. Take care fella.

  11. But I do have to wonder.... why is this in the Software section?

Three /cheers for the moderation team

    Dear Winapp2.ini,

I was stumbling, my usual method, around the forum today hoping to find something to help me. I landed in this section and saw your comment. Did I put my post of 12-21-10 in the wrong place? I was only sharing my experience with AVG which I thought was the topic inserted by Hazelnut and while I was at it thanked the Moderators. If I should have gone to another section I would appreciate any and all help from you. I'll be honest, I haven't mastered the forum yet. Thanks much and have a good day and happy holiday.

  12. Hello To All,

I confess that I am not on the forum as much as I would like and know I have missed a great deal. When I do, I am pleased to see articles such as the warning on AVG just posted. Many swear by it and I have been encouraged by some I have dealt with at home to install it and almost have but I have kept Panda. I think us dummies should get down on at least one knee, be grateful for and thank especially those Moderators like Hazelnut, Andavari, Nergal and Dennis that come to mind. Their tireless efforts keep us out of shark infested waters so much. Thanks and a good day to all.
