  1. Matt - try saying thank you from time to time.

If you can get my iPod connection issues fixed, okay.

Seriously, thank you all for trying.

The one who will actually fix it will get a bag of cookies though.

  2. One more thing, are your drivers up-to-date? After a repair install you need to update your drivers again.

All my drivers were already up to date after the repair install.

I just reinstalled my motherboard's drivers just to make sure. (ASUS A8N-SLI nVIDIA nForce 4)

  3. I did it numerous times.

Here's another screenshot; ironically enough, Windows does detect the iPod but not explorer.exe nor itunes.exe.

JACOB is my iPod, don't ask. :P

It worked fine before the repair install.

  4. After doing a repair install, I noticed that my computer no longer recognizes my 5th generation iPod "video".

    I tried:

    - Doing a reset on the iPod.

    - Reinstalling iTunes.

    - Uninstalling the drivers which Windows think is a USB mass storage device.

    - Trying another USB 2.0 port.

    Still doesn't work.

  5. Who? Was that my display name? Because it shouldn't be.

Do I have more grimlins?? MP - get my grimlins! Maybe your dog can get them. ;)

Was too much lazy to search for the exact name.

  6. Problem is that because of the total idiot that I am, I forgot to write down my product key only to notice moments later that I couldn't find the bloody certificate on my Windows XP jewel case!

I have a DVD image with my Windows XP installation but I don't want format my data. There is IMPORTANT data on my HD that I absolutely need to recover.

I did a repair installation and now I must continue the Windows XP setup but I don't have the product activation key on paper... I tried Safe Mode and Last Known Good Configuration but it doesn't work anymore.

Is there any way I could recover my Windows XP from my image file because I really don't want to format.

Or is there any program that can boot with a floppy or CD and recover my product key or even recover a few files of mine... they are really important.

  7. I called a computer guru mate of mine and here's a possible fix:

In Registry Editor (Start > Run... > regedit), navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon. Look for 'Name: Userinit'. In that, you will see 'Data: %system32%\wsaupdater.exe,'. Note that %system32% represents the path to the System32 folder. For example, if the path is C:\Windows\System32, then the data would be: 'C:\Windows\System32\wsaupdater.exe,'

Instead of wsaupdater.exe, the data should contain userinit.exe, (including the comma at the end). Using the example above, the data should now read: C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe. Make the change accordingly; close the Registry Editor and reboot your computer. "

  8. The problem is within the default CCleaner setup under Advanced and has been that way for over a year now. If it's causing the exact same problem to multiple users I would highly suspect it's a bug.

Yay, a few centuries and it be fixed.

Even if I uncheck the option, I still can't get my quick lauch thingy to lauch with windows. Any way to fix it in regedit?
