  1. Apologies for missing your posts. OFF TOPIC: Don't worry about it this was the only question i had that still needed answering other then my post on how to detect folder which i still have some issues with i am probably going to see if i can TwistedMetal to help me with that since he was the one who posted winapp2.ini to being with. the your post on that was quite helpful and almost did what i wanted it to but not quite. it told me how to do what i wanted to under CCleaner but i was not able to port those setting to winapps2.ini so it was close but not quite. On Topic: No i wasn't referring to any drop down menu. what i was referring to was Firefox's last download location. when you download a file Firefox remembers where you saved it i want to know how i can clear it's memory. i can do this trough Firefox it's self by ether going under tool/option/main/downloads and resetting where i want it to save all downloaded files but this is a pain. in "about:config" it displays it as: "browser.download.lastDir;" what i want to know is and how can i get CCleaner to delete this entry automatically or how can i disable this feature so that Firefox no longer remembers were i saved my last downloaded file. On a Similar note: there are many other applications that emulate this behavior (Snagit for one) is there anyway i can globally disable this behavior? similar to how I permanently disabled my recent documents (http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/08/disable-recent-documents-history-to.html) Or at worst individually add their entry into CCleaner as well? i hope that helps clarify what i wanted to know.
  2. Yes and No. the work around Augeas posted it answered my first question on how do I delete not only delete the contents of a folder, but the folder itself. However I had already figured that out before your post. So I when I posted my last post I thanked you and asked you two other questions . Question 1 (partially answered): how do I tell CCleaner to Search for folders instead of files or registry keys? This was partially answered in Augeas post and it was my mistake for not missing it on my first read through. I now have a new question is there any way that I can do this by adding the folder path to winapps2.ini I know that I can add file paths to the search under CCleaner and have it save it to the settings.ini file. But I like to know how to do this through the winapps2.ini as a matter of wishing to program it better. I tried to copy the appropriate line from Settings.ini to winapps2.ini but that didn?t work for me. Question 2 (answered): Was how do you add something under the Firefox Category in CCleaner (by using winapps2.ini). All I was asking for was Firefox?s Id since I have some plugins for Firefox that store information and I would like them to show up under the Firefox category if possible. The page on Piriform docs only tells me had to add things to one of these categories: * 3021 = Applications * 3022 = Internet * 3023 = Multimedia * 3024 = Utilities * 3025 = Windows it turns out that I was wrong about Firefox category = 3020 (in the LangSecRef under winapps2.ini) I after a little bit of work I figured out that the Firefox category Id = 3026 as well as a few others that were not listed on Piriform Doc and should probably be included. They are as follows *3026 = Firefox *3027 = Opera *3028 = Safari Everything else above 3028 and below 3021 seems to be undefined and it will create a new category unless i missed some if you do know any more please tell me i am making my own reference list. OH and don't forget i still have one question I would like answered Thanks
  3. i see that's what i thought but i just wanted to make sure. thank you Andavari @ sirwardle yes that would work for cleaning their accounts when they log in but not when they log out which is when that account would probably have the most usage tracks. it also wouldn't be good if i wasn't prompted because sometimes CCleaner removes things that i want to keep for a few days (ie game saves). i just wanted it to detect their usage tracks so that i could clear them when i cleared my own. but that doesn't appear to be possible. anyway thank you both for you're help.
  4. Hello I am runing a computer with multiple user profiles would it be possible to CCleaner to clean all of them at once? currently if i want to clean a users profile i have to log in to that users account (which i can do but it is a pain) and run CCleaner out of that account. would there be anyway to clean other users profiles with out having to log them in? to clarify i don't need to clean over a network all of these users are on the same computer and i can clean some of there usage tracks manually because i know where most of them are stored and i can go into there user profiles and delete them my self. i just wanted to know if CCleaner could save me the trouble of doing that. an answer to this topic and my other one about Firefox's open and save to locations would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Thank you but i have actually already figured out how to clear the whole folder (I learn fast) that is done by adding a \*.*|REMOVESELF at the end of the path. however I now have another similar question is it possible to get ccleaner to detect a specific folder instead of a file or a registry key? for example in winapp2.ini you can right either write DetectFile=[Path and file] to detect a program by the presence of a file or Detect=[Registry key] to detect a program by the presence of a Registry key would it be possible to replace that with something like Detect=Folder and then have the folder path? i am sorry if i explained what i want to do poorly if anyone doesn't understand or has any questions on what i am trying to do please ask me. Oh and while i am at it i have one more question how does one add something under the Firefox Category in CCleaner (by using winapps2.ini) since i have some plugins for Firefox that store information that i would like to be able to clean and i would like them to show up under the Firefox category if possible. the page on Piriform docs only tells me had to add things to one of these category's: * 3021 = Applications * 3022 = Internet * 3023 = Multimedia * 3024 = Utilities * 3025 = Windows while i am not sure but i think that if the order that these display in ccleaner has anything to do with the numbers i would guess that it would be something like 3020 = Firefox but as i said i am not sure. oh and by the way thank you again for the help.
  6. hello i was reading up on how to add files to the winapp2.ini file so that ccleaner will find/clean them does anyone knew if i can add an entire folder to winapp2.ini because at the moment i only know how to add individual files to the cleaning list and i would really like to delete certain folders as well. can anyone help me with this?
  7. that is somewhat incorrect things like hotmail, yahoo mail, gmail, tagged...etc can still track your ip address weather or not you clear your cookies.while they do use cookies for some data mining I would imaged that they do most of their tracking by logging your ip address and monitoring where it has been. since most people have a static ip address this would work quite well. as far as i know those sites use cookies manly for storing passwords and stuff like that so if you are running Firefox and want to have multiple hotmail accounts you might want to look into a plugin called cookie swap (i believe that is what it is called) that lets you keep muliple cookie profiles and lets you switch between them at will. as for completely avoiding being logged for that you would need a proxy but i don't want to get into that at the moment. oh and you are welcome Edit and as for deleting the index.dat file that is quite esay you just need to get you're self a file unlocker. but if you don't want to do that you can always just take ownership of it under security policies that works even for things like that super protected hidden folder called system volume information
  8. Not really it takes up space and it is a security threat (on a privacy level) and I like making sure that when I clean something it is unrecoverable. besides I almost never download the same thing twice.
  9. hmm... I can think of a couple ways the developers could do that. The best way to do that would be if someone wrote a plug-in for Firefox that automatically clears all of you're usage tracks on exit. However there are many other applications that it would be nice if CCleaner could clear their usage tracks on exit a the best way I can think of them making that a feature would be if they included an optional service with CCleaner that monitors the launching and closing of programs from a list of programs selected by the user. CCleaner would then clear those selected applications usage tracks on exit when they exit. Although this could be quite useful is a feature I cannot see the developers adding lightly or anytime soon. So that is way I think that making a plug-in for Firefox is by far the best option for the time being. Unfortunately though for the mean time that is currently beyond my abilities. By the way there already is a feature built into Firefox that lets you delete most of your usage tracks on exit under: tools/options/privacy (the big tab on the top) at the bottom there are two little boxes that says always clear my privet data and always ask me before clearing my privet data click both of them and you should from now on get a little dialog box that asks you what you want to delete. However I do agree that it would be nice if there was away of getting CCleaner to do this on exit since CCleaner wipes that data instead of just deleting it like Firefox does. So it would be nice if the developers or anyone else skillful enough to do that would make a plug-in to do that.
  10. hello I noticed that Firefox (as well many other applications) remember your last open/save locations is there anyway to get CCleaner to clear those? I was looking at how to modify the Winapp2.ini file to include these usage tracks but i am not exactly sure where that information is kept and how to add it. could anyone tell me how to do this? wow still no replies...
