each time i write a file to a cd the icon overlaying the Microsoft Word icon on the cd appears to be an ie7 icon? why? i just downloaded ie7...but why would that have anything to do with writing files to cd's? this ie7 icon overlays any type of document...not just Microsoft Word documents
the overlayed icon is the blue e with yellow orbit as can be seen in this link..... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/...ie/default.mspx
thanks in advance for your help

humpty...just a quick note to close out my problem...and to THANK YOU for your help
my problem started when i could no longer use dial access for roadrunner
found out it was due to microsoft security update...kb911280
i deleted the hotfix uninstaller and could not uninstall it
reinstalled kb911290 as you suggested and then tried to uninstall it
the uninstall wizard went through the uninstall process but at the end said it was not uninstalled
anyway, just by chance i tried roadrunner dial access again...and it worked just fine
therefore, the uninstaller must have done something even though it may have not completely uninstalled kb911280
thx again and bye

thx for the info...
the install was the middle of last year so i no longer not have a system restore point...
after reinstalling kb911280, now at least i get the uninstall wizard (i didn't before), however after the wizard goes through the uninstall process i just get the following message "the handle is invalid, kb911280 was not uninstalled".
any other thoughts?
could i just delete the kb911280 folder?
thx, again.

is there anyway to manually remove a microsoft update (kb911280) after the hotfix uninstaller has been removed...i have found out that this particular update prevents my roadrunner dialer from validating my username and password...help me if you can...thx

i have gotten myself in a big mess and need help if possible.
problem started when my ca/ez armor security suite was to expire...i thought i would load the zone alarm program...not sure what i did but now i cannot reload either program.
i get three messages:
1) validation failed for c:docume~\lonnie~1\locals~1\temp\010507123713\vsdata.dll
2) set up unable to log into truevector service. install cannot continue without logging into the trurevector service. please use the service manager to shutdown the truevector service & then restart install program
3) something about memory at x0x00000007

1) I have a Dell Dimension computer (desktop).
2) The model is 4400.
3) The Operating System is Windows 2000 (it states built on NT technology).
4)It appears that my graphics driver has been inadvertently uninstalled (or, simply deleted)...not sure which? As a result, her wallpaper, icons and pictures now have a grainy appearance. Anyway, is a graphics driver the same as a video card/driver...are these the same as a vga...is this the same as a display driver? Also, fyi...when you right click on the screen, click properties, click settings, click advanced, click adapter...it states "unavailable" for each item in Adapter Information (e.g., chip type, dac type, memory size, adapter string, bios information).
5) I have been on the Dell and Microsoft web sites trying to find info on a compatible adapter, as well as getting it downloaded.
6) I downloaded a couple of drivers that were supposedly compatible...NVIDIA Geforce3 Ti 200 and NVIDIA Geforce3 Ti 500. Dell referred to them as video card drivers. Unfortunately, I really do not know the type of driver that came with my unit.
7) The downloaded drivers do not show up on the Add or Delete Program listings...should they? The old one that was uninstalled/deleted showed up on this listing as a Display Driver.
8) Once downloaded, does a driver have to be configured or started...if so, how?
9) Needless to day, I can't get it working. If it is working correctly, shouldn't it show up on the adapter tab (see #4 above).

never mind...thanks anyway...i simply uninstalled IE7 and the problem went away...now, just the normal icons (eg, Microsoft Word) are on the cd...i don't know why downloading ie7 created this problem?
