  1. Sorry to inform you blackboxxx but this is normal and I'll explain why...

Defraggler uses real-time updating of storage space on all drives it recognizes which includes USB drives. So technically, all drives that Defraggler recognizes at start-up are constantly being read for any changes to disk space. I don't know if this is something the developers can fix, but this is definitely not a version bug. This has been going on dating back to the 1.06 version which is when I started using Defraggler.

Test my theory... Delete something or install something while Defraggler is open and you can view the drive chart portion of the window. You will see the disk space amount change in real-time.

    I hope this helps,

    Keith

  2. I prefer to get the best performance out of my USB drive so I have it set to "Optimize for Performance"... And I always "safely remove hardware" with my USB drives unless of course I get the dreaded error saying that my drive is still in use and there is nothing using it! (from what I can tell of course) Then, I just take my chances and pull it out.

  3. Yea number 1 sounds useful, but the may need to add a reminder that highlighted items are not necessary unwanted/dangerous.

I've already seen at least one post that thought all listed were problem/unneeded programs. :)

I would agree... It seems all software these days needs to come with a warning label :P

  4. craigathus,

I have a 3870 that I bought in Nov 07... I can assure you that ATI and their subvendors still do not have things together. Sometimes when I restart my computer, my fan speed is 0% and other times it's in the 20% range. I always use Rivatuner no matter what to set it to 56% and that keeps it cool without putting too much stress on the fan. As you can see in your GPU-Z screenshot, your fan % is 0 while your RPM is 5000+. I wonder if that's a bug... I would give Rivatuner a shot.

  5. I used to use ClamWin Free Antivirus as my secondary backup AV which is perfectly fine to do since it doesn't have resident protection, however the very long scan times is what made me permanently switch to using ESET Online Scanner, which scans everything in about 30 minutes.

I agree... I had ClamWin on my work computer as a secondary scanner to Sysmantec (not by choice) up until last week. I got tired of the long scan times and it didn't seem like detection was very good either. I may give ESET a try though!

  6. pekkala89,

First, welcome to the forum. Second, currently, Defraggler does not have the option to defrag at boot although in a similar thread, someone did mention that it is in the works for future versions.

    I hope this helps,

    Keith

  7. Hmm... An A/V by Microsoft eh? I used Windows Defender for a bit but just didn't feel very safe so I hope they do better with their A/V. I much rather have a Spybot S&D or MalwareBytes' in the background providing realtime protection with WinPatrol batting 2nd.

  8. When 2.18.878 was released I received the usual prompt that a newer version was available after I opened the CCleaner main program window. I used the automatic upgrade installer. When I uninstalled CCleaner earlier today, I used the FileHippo site to reinstall (after linking to it from the CCleaner home page.) When that didn't work I uninstalled again, used Windows built in search feature to find any unremoved (orphan) CCleaner and/or Piriform files. Also used another search tool (Copernic Desktop Search.) Finally used regedit to clean registry of all CCleaner and Piriform entries. Used FileHippo again to reinstall. Problem still exists with Cleaner module only. Registry module has always worked perfectly in both Scan and Fix modes.

Hmm.... Sorry to hear that you have had to go through all of that... The best thing I can tell you right now is to list your full system specs and hope that a developer sees your post because this is definitely an usual, probably isolated situation.
