Invalid BOOT.INI file
Booting from C:\windows\
HELP!

True, malware isn't as much of an issue on Linux computers, but it still is more secure than Windows when patched and hardened. However, a determined hacker could still get past that. Don't practice security by obscurity.
Good Vid it just goes to show wot people can do to f*** up your system.

I wouldn't mess with Preloader, it's not worth the trouble it can cause.
I am currently using firefox (1.0.7) an what is this chromedit ur on about?

Answering MacmillaN only,
Everything Andavari told you was correct, all the rest of the posts have gone off topic a bit.
You should have got a restore CD from PCWorld, I deal with a few of their computers, which all have restore CD's.
Go back to the store where you bought it quoting the model number of your computer and hopefully they can provide you with a replacement CD.
Restore CD's have been the norm for many years now, since they stopped shipping computers with original Windows CD's.
Finally....
-
Why would you want to erase the WinXP Restore Files partition? That's how you'd restore your system.
my comp came with no such CDS.
everythink was preinstalled
(bought from pcworld/UK)
-
Win9x you use a bootdisk with the necessary startup files and other necessary files which include FDISK and FORMAT.
WinXP you use the bootable CD that came with your system which can Quick Format or Full Format the disk.
No matter what your OS is I'd do a Full Format.
My comp came pre-installed with windows XP

I have been wondering for awhile and would like to know how to fully wipe your hard drive so its ready for a new OS.

Andavari what starts to malfunction on your ps2? Mine has some strange thing wrong with it where it wont play the old blue or purple discs. Other than that no problems for the close to 4 years that I have had it.
As long as sony keeps getting metal gear and all of the platformers I will forever be a playstation fan (Almost forgot Grand Turismo). If I want FPS games than I will go play on my pc. I just don't see myself buying a console with only two or three good games.
Yea my first PS2 stopped workin due to alot o dust getting stuck in the grills so i bought an XBOX, i love the XBOX and think alot o the titles are gr8. But i also went and bought a PS2 as alot o the titles seemed better games.
So as for the Next Gen Consoles
I will get the XBOX360 then the PS3
afterall you, only live once
i will never get a revolution though
-
so something stopped workiing correctly. you have to realize that not all parts of a computer can last forever.
also is it a Dell. Dell makes horrible computers.
i realise that not all parts last forever wud u recomend the comp going for a check as i bought it from PC World and took a package out so if anyhink goes wrong they can check it out.
No it is a Packard Bell/NEC

did you even read my post? it is your HARDWARE that is doing this. the Windows Registry does NOT control hardware
i read it, ive had the comp for about a year and only got this prob a few days ago.
-
the windows registry is a database which is full of values. the values can be accessed by Windows APIs so that they can be edited. programs get values from the windows registry so that they can work correctly. your error sounds like your hardware is making the beeping noise. Programs are software not hardware. if you need hardware help, contact the company that made the piece of hardware.
Ok.
-
ok. you're saying to me right now that the thing causing this is a simple registry value in a database full of values that only depend on programs.
Hardware and software are 2 diffrent things buddy. a registry fixer wont do s**t.
as for a good one, CCleaner of course.
i use it no issues found and still get the beep!

-
I don't but it is worth a try!

im needin a good free registry fixer?
cheers
