  1. Just noticed that all of that above with the 'Run CCleaner' in the Tasks section and the four tabs below it are from enabling 'Enable Windows Jump List Tasks' in the advanced options. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but as far as I know, the Jump List is where the computer user icon is at the top and things like 'computer, connect to, control panel', etc, etc, etc, appear below it. The stuff I'm talkinf about appear in the Start Menu and extend from it.
  2. Uh um, excuse me, you mean for the advanced user... LOL
  3. What is 'Enable Windows Jump List Tasks' for if selected? Googled around for it with no luck. I'm on Win7HP64b and am familiar with the Jump List. EDIT: oops, I got it!
  4. Hi amhoyle, No, not the Jump List. I meant the Start Menu, the one on the left side as oppose to the Jump List which is on the right. I place it there by clicking "Pin to Start Menu". Currently, whether pinned or not, when I mouse over it, I see a 'Tasks' section at the top where there is an entry called 'Run CCleaner'. When clicked it runs the cleaner in the background where all I do is click yes to the UAC and no other prompts or windows are displayed. Below the Tasks section above are these four entries 'Cleaner, registry, Tools, & Options', the four tabs of CC. When clicked, those tabs are opened accordingly just like the shortcuts you mentioned. Let me point out that in the mentioned 'Tasks' section above, there already is a shortcut that: opens CC, selects the Cleaner tab, and selects the 'Run Cleaner' button. So why not a shortcut that: opens CC, selects the Options tab, and selects the Cookies tab?
  5. It's now pinned to my Start menu with an arrow to mouse over to the task of running CCleaner or just opening Cleaner, registry, Tools, &/or Options. I'd like to know how to just create a shortcut that will simply open CCleaner's Cookies page/tab. Thanks, Selvan Win7HP64b OS CC v2.34.1200
  6. This weird behavior is still there but it's no longer an issue for me because I've figured out how to set the cleaner to run at windows start using the task scheduler. And an added plus is that with the scheduled task there is no prompt from the UAC of Windows 7.
  7. Thanks Pierre, I think the scheduled task is a great idea whether or not UAC is an issue. I actually used the basic to run at start-up. But I kept getting this message about how the task could not run because the user was not logged on to the network. In poking around I tried selecting the bullet for 'run whether user is logged on or not' and it works like a champ every time now...
  8. Hi Alan, Guess I spoke too soon because it has again stopped running at windows srart and I had done no changes to it what so ever. CCleaner lists it in the startup items: Yes HKCU:Run ccleaner "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCleaner\ccleaner.exe" /AUTO If I didn't configure CCleaner with sufficient authority for UAC, how do I do so now? As for malware protection, I have none specif for malware that are pro=active. I only have the free scanner ones after the fact. I do use Kaspersky Antivirus, Comodo Firewall (free edition), and Winpatrol. I've had to click yes to Winpatrol to allow CCleaner. None the less, I've tried disabling all three (unchecked enable protection for KAV, set firewall security level to disabled for Comodo, & unchecked automatically run winpatrol when computer starts) and restarted windows and it did not help. Very weird! Thanks for the help, Selvan
  9. How do I create this scheduled task with maximum privileges created for admin users(I am one on a home pc). Can you help me do it so I don't have to click yes at the uac at every boot as it is now? I was up till 1am trying it last night and couldn't get it to work. Thanks, Selvan
  10. Thanks Alan. Actually, I ended up running the uninstaller, rebooted, then deleted every instance of ccleaner I could find for in the registry. It's all okay again now, well, except for the UAC thing. I am trying to create a scheduled task for it so as to get around the UAC, I read about it here somewhere, but can't quite get it to work yet. Thanks, Selvan Windows 7HP
  11. I've Windows 7 Home Premium using CCleaner v2.34.1200 I just can't get it to run when the computer starts even after uninstalling it using Programs and Features and re-installing a fresh download. I have cookies for both Internet Explorer and FireFox checked and when I analyze, it finds a number of cookies to clean. I go to Options-Cookies, I see them. I go to Settings and check the box for 'run ccleaner when the computer starts'. I close the program, restart Windows and I don't see the quick appearance of the task bar icon showing me it's cleaning and when I open CCleaner, I see the same cookies are still there. If I open CCleaner and run the cleaner, they are gone. I browse some more, close the browser, reopen CCleaner, I see more cookies... So the program seems to be functioning okay. Thanks for any help. Selvan
  12. Hi Dennis, Thanks a bunch, that did the trick. Thanks
  13. Version 2.20.920 is not deleting cookies. On the Cleaner tab I only have Cookies for IE and Firefox checked. On the Options - Cookies tab, I have 28 entries on the left to delete. When I Run Cleaner, only 2 cookies are removed. When I Run Cleaner again, 0 cookies are removed. I've changed nothing in the settings since the last update from 2.19. Any idea how to fix it? I'm thinking of uninstalling 2.20 and re-installing 2.19 but before I do I'd like to know if there's a convenient way to back-up the cookies to keep? Thanks
  14. Please remove my IP for all to see in that topic! Thanks you. Selvan
  15. Okay, so all is good. Surfing is much better with the beta version, I will add. I do see the same blocking of www.google-analytics.com in the logs. PM sent <edit 1> disregard the PM, it's being taken care of! Thanks. Selvan
  16. Sorry but I still don't see it. The only place I see the word Proxy is in HostsMan (not HostsServer), Tools, Options, Update, Proxy Server = Auto-Detect.
  17. I go to http://forum.abelhadigital.com/ and click on Register, I ensure I complete all the fields fully, I enter a 9 character Username, a 6 character password twice, a real google e-mail address twice, the unique security code, check to agree to the terms, and finally I click Submit my registration. I got the below page 5 mins ago, several hours ago and also 2 or 3 days ago (no change). Since you didn't mention to go the Beta route, I thought the latest Non-Beta release of HostsMan would be the safer route! The HostsServer version I'm running is the one installed by it. Beta it is than. Thanks. Selvan
  18. I've tried becoming a member at adelhadigital for a couple days now but it keeps saying an error occurred so I hope you can help me here. I did send an e-mail to the admin about it.
  19. As you can see, there is no "Preferences" I can go to.
  20. I'm real sorry to but where is it? Thanks. Selvan
  21. Yes, I too have HostsServer start with Windows with loggging set like you mentioned. But where is this proxy setting you refer to? I went to: HostsMan, Tools, Additional Information and under Network, it says Proxy: Not used. If you don't mind my asking, how do I enable it? Thanks. Selvan
  22. Hi YoKenny, I started using the HOSTS file and HostsServer like you mentioned, thanks. I'm now only keeping selected cookies and so far none of my Malware utilities have detected a single thing. I must say that browsing seems to be a bit slower even though I changed DNS Client to Manual (I keep checking it and never starts). Do you have any recommendations? Thanks. Selvan
  23. One of the biggest reasons I came to CCleaner was to clean cookies at boot. I visit far too many new sites daily to selectively save the keepers, it would just be too much extra effort sorting through them all the time. Re; the HOST file, thanks, I think it's time I look into it. I've heard about it often. Rgds. Selvan
