Does Defraggler start when you click on the corrupt defraggler icon? If so you can probably fix the corrupt one.
-
I'm getting this also. It displays an error warning regarding the automatic updates. I also save my settings to an ini file and have automatic updattes turned off.
Windows XPSP3
Version 2.10.413
I experimented a little. I set update frequencey to zero, and it did the update error everytime i started defraggler. Then i set the update frequencey to 365, and it stopped. I should be good for a year i guess??

[Ghostbuster*] LangSecRef=3021 DetectFile=%AppData%\Ghostbuster Default=False FileKey1=%AppData%\Ghostbuster|*.ini
Removes Ghostbuster settings (last device selections).
If this doesn't work i know who i can call!!

Could you please modify the entries listed below in the next release of Winapp2.ini file.
There were two DetectFiles in this entry. I think one detectfile is sufficient. Also added another RegKey..
I already added these to the new Winapp2.ini file.

Could you please replace the Internet Explorer More entry with the one listed here and try it. I don't have a XP system to try it.
[internet Explorer More*]
LangSecRef=3022
DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
Default=False
FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Recovery\Last Active|*.*|RECURSE
FileKey2=%LocalLowAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\Content|*.*
FileKey3=%LocalLowAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\MetaData|*.*
FileKey4=%AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\UserData|*.*|RECURSE
RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International|CNum_CpCache
RegKey2=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International|CpCache
RegKey3=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International\CpMRU
RegKey4=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LowRegistry\Audio\PolicyConfig\PropertyStore
RegKey5=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\PageSetup
RegKey6=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Recovery\PendingDelete
Basically I have provided this entry but, someone added the lines listed below into this entry.
FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer|brndlog.*
FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer|*iconcache.dat
FileKey3=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\iconcache|*.*|REMOVESELF
Your awesome, this totally fixed it. Internet Explorer More* causes no more problems. I guess it was iconcache causing the problems?
-
lets us know if that fixed the issue
I doubt it will as this was an windows explorer(OS) issue and not with Firefox. I appreciate the suggestion though, so thanks. Ill try it later.
-
Caret browsing now disabled.
-
I don't think your quote said that at all. It said that you can't delete an ADS attached to the root directory without formatting the drive. CC ADS deletion seemis quite safe - to me.
Ok, gotcha. Thanks...
-
Try this.
http://www.mydigital...-google-chrome/
I was wondering if you also have Firefox installed on the system. Firefox has a feature called 'caret browsing'. The main reason that Firefox has this feature is that you can select text with your keyboard. This feature could cause the curser blink.
You can disable this feature. Type in "about:config" in the address bar and then type in "caret" in the filter box and simply double click to change the option from "true" to "false".
Of course i have firefox, its my main browser. Just in case this is the cause, ill disable that feature. Don't use it anyway. Which one do i set to false??
-
Nope, no custom cursors. No big deal as i dont use ie much, and that entry didn't seem to do that much. If i need to do it, i can run it before i shut down, then when i boot back up it will be gone.
-
So to sum up here you have tracked down your flickering cursor issue to a winnapp2.ini entry?
Yes, glad it was just that. *Knock on wood*. I posted about in in the winapp.ini forum.
-
Yes it's on.
-
I guess its just with Windows XP?I use this on Windows 7, no problem at all.
Details about this entry.
-
Hey guys, im having a problem with one of the entry's. Its called *internet explorer more. When i have it checked and run CCleaner, it then will cause my cursor to flicker. When im browsing thru folders on my PC, the cursor flickers rapidly. If i reboot, and then uncheck *internet explorer more, everything works fine with no problems.
-
hazelnut & winapp2.ini, i found the problem. It was caused by the deletion of something performed by an entry in my winapp2.ini. The entry was called *internet explorer more. I rebooted my PC, Un-checked *internet explorer more, and then ran CCleaner and everything worked fine.
Do you run windows Defender? no
Do you having indexing turned off or on? dont know
Do you have the 'update ccleaner'' button ticked in options? no
What video card do you have? nvidia geforce 8300gs
Does it happen if you clean using a different user profile (if you have one) ? no
Also which operation system do you have and is it up to date? Windows XPSP3\\yes
Are your GPU drivers up to date? Somewhat
-
Any solution's guys, its happening to me when i run CCleaner.
-
So why were these features added to ccleaner, they dont sound that safe? Wipe Alternate Data Streams dont sound that bad if you could choose what to delete(Wipe). I used ADS Spy and it worked great. Got to choose what i wanted to get rid of.

Miroku4444 you need to be a little better about reading the thread, or at least the most recent entries. Three times (before you) it was reported about the double Flash Install and three time before you an answer was given. At LEAST 1 of those time IS ON THIS PAGE of the thread. Come'on'son http://forum.pirifor...ndpost&p=208192
I apologize, should have looked a little. Was a Long day.
I'll edit my post.
Is that 64 in this entry a reference to 64-bit. If so can i remove it if i dont have a 64-bit system? Or just leave it alone?

Cos my sensitive files are encrypted, I have little important data sitting in cluster tips, so prolly don't gain anything.
As for ADS, I'm concerned about security breaches averted to by Willy and summarized in his Bleeping link -- an inducement to wipe 'em.
Yeah, but that same article said if you delete a ADS that's attached to a directory thats linked to a root of a hard drive, will cause serious trouble.
In order to delete ADS files that are attached to a directory, you need to delete the directory. This can cause a major problem if the ADS is attached to the root of a hard drive. Since you cannot delete the ADS in this way unless you reformat the drive, you can do this to get rid of the unwanted information in the ADS file. -
Do you gain anything by wiping the cluster tips?It's been safe for me.
-
Is it safe to wipe those cluster tips?
-
What do these things do, didn't see anything over at Piriform in the help section.

Update for Any Video Converter.
Before:
[AnvSoft Any Video Converter (Database)*] LangSecRef=3023 Detect=HKCU\Software\AnvSoft Default=False FileKey1=%AppData%\AnvSoft\Any Video Converter|*.db
After:
With a proposed shorter name, new detection since they make other software too, also we don't need the developer name listed in the cleaner name/title.
[Any Video Converter*] LangSecRef=3023 Detect=HKCU\Software\AnvSoft\Any Video Converter Default=False FileKey1=%appdata%\AnvSoft\Any Video Converter|*.db FileKey2=%appdata%\AnvSoft\Any Video Converter|*.log
Thats ok, but I like to separate the database cleaning and the logs. When you delete the database the program takes way longer to load. So most of the time i only want to delete the logs. Plus, i made one that deletes all their products.
[AnvSoft(Database)*] LangSecRef=3023 Detect=HKCU\Software\AnvSoft Default=False FileKey1=%AppData%\AnvSoft\Any Audio Converter|*.db FileKey2=%AppData%\AnvSoft\Any DVD Converter Professional|*.db FileKey3=%AppData%\AnvSoft\Any Video Converter|*.db [AnvSoft(Logs)*] LangSecRef=3023 Detect=HKCU\Software\AnvSoft Default=False FileKey1=%AppData%\AnvSoft\Any Audio Converter|*.log FileKey2=%AppData%\AnvSoft\Any DVD Converter Professional|*.log FileKey3=%AppData%\AnvSoft\Any Video Converter|*.log
