  1. I use Defraggler on Vista With no problem. It was a little slow, but when I updated to the latest version( of Defraggler) it was back to being fast again.

    Freeware!

A good replacement for Word Pad http://www.jarte.com/. Nice and lite.
  3. I would agree on what has been said about Avira. I switched to it a week ago. Have been running Spyware Terminator with ClamWin AV integrated. Worked very well. Didn't even want to let ME do anything. So I dumped it.
  4. That MoBo will handle what you want, but I would go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103289 and maybe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102715 . The 5400 BE will OC easy and the 3850 will do a pretty good job in the gfx dept. Get a good PSU. Very important for any rig, and especially for gaming. This would do I think http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817139003 . And yes, 2Gb memory is what you need. Hope this helped.
  5. Well, first, that is 5-7Mb of files that it says it removes that it did not show needed removing. That's why the question. Second, Vista's hardware needs are not all that tough. My hardware needs are a lot tougher. Third, I fully understand the difference between base 10 and hex. However, the HDD makers use 10^6 for 1 Mb and the OS reverts to binary and sees it as 2^20. This is where the difference comes in. No offense meant.

    Suggestion

Take this or leave it, up to you. One thing I do to speed up defrag time, is turn off system restore. Sys restore can use up to 10-15% of your HD. If you are POSITIVE your computer is just fine, turn sys restore off, defrag, then turn sys restore back on and create a restore point. Works for me and saves a ton of defrag time, and gets rid of Gb's of old restore files.
  7. Since I switched to Vista, analyze shows xxMb to be removed, and when Cleaning is done, It shows a lot higher amount has been removed. Say 5-7 Mb more. What is up with that??
