  1. I specially searched for and found a USB keyboard that makes a sound every time I press a key.

I hate the keyboards with no "click" sound like those on laptop(s). They come with a keyboard but a lousy one. And it was meant to keep the price down of the laptop. One can't even hear or feel when one has pressed a key. Even a more expensive Logitech keyboard was too "flexible" and not "rigid" enough.

  2. - A Windows 10 installation/upgrade leaves a number of/too many "loose ends" when it comes to permissions. But the new Windows Repair v3.50 (WR) ties up those loose ends.

    - The new WR takes less time to run the permissions repair(s).

    - I do think a number of problems with Win 10 as reported on this forum will be solved by running WR.

    - DO check the change log for more info !!!!

Hopefully MS will adress the Win 10 bugs in the next new Windows 10 ISO file.

(Another reason why I'll wait a while before even trying Win 10).

  3. - Windows 7 and newer have an additional registry hive called "Components", located in "C:\windows\system32\config".

    - Same story for a new hive called "Drivers" in Windows 10.

When the user has told the latest version of DF to defragment a number of system files then these files aren't "touched" and not defragmented at all. I think this is a useful addition to the next version of DF !!!

Are there more system files that can defragmented upon start up ???

  4. Windows Repair version v3.42 released. Windows 10 posed a problem when it came to setting permissions of the registry. Although a lot of bugs were fixed it's not quite clear that all "Permission" related issues have been fixed. So, any new bug reports are VERY welcome.

Post your bug reports, suggestions, thoughts, experiences etc. on the Tweaking.com forum, NOT here.

  5. Another bug in DF v2.19:

I have a 4 GB MicroSD card (with a FAT file system) and on that disk are 2 defragmented directory files. DF does defragment all the files on that disk but DF still continues to fail to defragment those directory files.

  6. How MS would handle the product key when one migrates from e.g. Win 7 to Win 10 was not quite clear for me and one of the reasons why I hesitate to try Win 10. But one article (on a dutch website) made it clear what's going to happen.

One is recommended to upgrade from e.g. Win 7 to Win 10 first because then Win 10 will "convert" the Win 7 product key to a Win 10 product key ??? After that one can do a clean Win 10 install with the same (new ????) product key ??? That also assumes that a new product key is issued/generated for Win 10 without charge (if one installs Win 10 before july 29 2016) ???

    Can anyone confirm this ?

  7. - From the "How to Geek" link:

"Not only has Microsoft spent less time stabilizing and bug-testing the release version of Windows than ever, .............. "

Doesn't sound too well. So, the users are meant to help MS to iron out the bugs ? I guess I'll only install it on my other laptop I rarely use. But I am not in a hurry to do so.

    - @MTA: the "Media Creation Tool" didn't do anything funny with your system ? Did it clean up all the extra things it installed (I saw some extra folders were created).

    - Or is MS going to roll out more than one download version ? No, I am not going to waste a DVD on this download. A USB stick will be useable more than once.
