  1. I Finally figured out how to fix it, after several more tries...! Thanks to All, for pointing me in the right direction!- ~~~~~~~~ I didn't realize iconcache.db was a Hidden File, until I found it with nifty fast/free Search Everything (shows All/hidden files without Explorer tweak... Run as admin with full Explorer... rights, and everything.exe process whitelisted in my AV). You can use wild cards..., is much like the good old XP search options, but Better! http://download.cnet...tml?tag=mncol;1 (free download here) You do need to tweak Options..., to keep it from auto-starting/... after reboot (only takes 6sec to load & show All files on your computer). ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. I tried renaming #iconcache.db, but was still corrupted after reboot! (Search Everything Results...) 2. I figured Win was still finding the corrupt icon from somewhere(?), so I Permanently Deleted- DF.413.exe, and All iconcache.db's. 3. Reboot, iconcache rebuilt correctly, and Phew!- DF icon is Fixed! G'day Scott
  2. From my first Post- "DF is working OK, but the corrupted desktop icon Bugs me!? "
  3. The .exe was corrupt, and so was the Start "All Programs" menu? How about a Revo deep scan uninstall? Would this possibly corrupt my computer?
  4. Trying to reinstall DF .391, had issues...!- http://forum.pirifor...showtopic=36014
  5. I temporiarly upgraded to .413, and had had issues with boot defrag every-time not working (I like this feature!)- So I fresh rebooted & reinstalled .391 (upgrade) with the same install settings- Desktop Icon, and replace WDD with Defraggler (DF Icon was normal, as before), But!- After a cold startup, another no-activity reboot, I did a full defrag. After the first reboot the DF icon became corrupted (see .jpg screenshot)? I tried a DF uninstall/CCleaner (reg too)/chkdsk/DF reinstall (AV temp disabled, and All DF Processes/install file pre-whitelisted...). I also pre-ran a heavy-duty trusted reg cleaner, but no DF items were listed in either. Now as soon as I reinstall .391, the desktop icon is immediately corrupted! DF is working OK, but the corrupted desktop icon Bugs me!? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It appears that the DF registry somehow got corrupted, and the only other thing I can think of to try is deep uninstalling with Revo uninstaller? I am not sure about trying this as Revo sometimes messes with uninstall.isu that is supposed to restore settings... on first reboot!? Any suggestions would be appreciated!?
  6. Statue: I just upgraded to the latest version, but decided to view this forum for bugs before trying it out? I will definitely make a full system backup, and emergency boot disk Before trying it out!
  7. Win 7 Pro (32). Maxed out ZT i7/2600 (3.85ghz) sata6 desktop computer. Too many writes with Wipe Free Space caused my Crucial C300 SSD drive to lock up, and finally quit working! RMA'd it, and the 2nd drive also quit after a few CCleaner runs!? I didn't find Wipe Free Space on until my 3d SSD drive (Crucial Support reported that I had exceeded the write cycles on first two drives). Since lockups/video problems usually started soon after running CCleaner- I checked Every setting? Why CCleaner would default enable a SLOW process like Wipe Free Space for most users, is beyond me? I could see maybe using it if you were going to sell your sata drive computer, but there is absolutely No performance improvement! Wipe Free Space is akin to defragging an SSD drive- A Real No No, as you can only write a limited amount of times to a block- Then it becomes Read Only, and crashes When CC tries to write to a Read only block... ~~~~~~~~~~~ BTW- I've given up Hassling with SSD's (3d). It was Very fast at first, but the more large folders/programs I added- It got slower & slower (no video editing..., just normal computing). Simple read/write benchmarks were Fast, but normal processes were slow to load/run/close (Slow IO's!)... Per SSD forums- I also had to disable indexing, and System Restore. Solution!- I "upgraded" to a WD Raptor 450gig/sata6/10k rpm C: hard drive- Defragged & Optimized with free Auslogics Defrag (sys files too, and First Fully Exit anti-virus!). My system Screams now, and is 3x faster than SSD (full OSS anti-virus scan went from 65min, down to 23min)!
  8. Win 7 (32), CCleaner 3.05.1408, PrivateFirewall (CCleaner Allowed/fast!), Avira Antivir Premium v10, and no other active anti-malware. Every since I've upgraded to the latest version- The First time I click on Analyze, I get "This Analysis is incomplete" (see attachment)? The Second time I re-click Analyze, it works OK?
  9. SOLUTION!- I Finally found a way to let WFS complete, and stop killing my Internet Receive Connection on my Router... (Constant resets!)! I sleuthed that my freeware PCtools Plus Firewall was going Nuts, and creating Huge logs! I uninstalled my firewall, and went back to Win firewall- Router would still lose connection, but not as soon? I then rebooted & did a check disk with normal repair. No activity for 10min. During this time my WD Raptor HD was softly chattering constantly (C: partition is 60gig), but No connection loss since then! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I don't have Any Idea Exactly what the problem was?- Rebooting to soon, after CCleaner WFS?- Should be a progress bar, or...!? 3d party WFS applications have this feature! PCtools Plus firewall was reinstalled (Normal Mode this time), and running Good! I'll NEVER do WFS again, unless I'm selling my computer!
  10. Win 7, Avira Antivir Premium. I ticked "Wipe Free Space" on my C: HD in Settings, for No good reason (just curious. )- Now it is going on-and-on, and playing Havoc with my computer!- Cable Router has to be Reset every few minutes, and System Volume information is up to 1200mb! Is there some way to Stop it?
  11. That is exactly what I was trying to do, and CC is no longer deleting my FF cookies? It may have been that I accidentally still had Show Hidden files selected? BTW!- I finally figured out how to backup FF cookies! To Backup FF cookies- 1. In MyComputer, Tools, Folder Options, View- Show Hidden files, and untick "Hide Extensions for known file types". 2. Go to- C:/users/(name)/appdata/roaming/mozilla/firefox/profiles/(name).default 3. copy/paste cookies.sqlite into your backup folder 4. Go back, and "Don't show hidden files"/reboot ~~~~~~~~~~~ To Restore cookies 1. copy/paste your #3 cookies backup, into #2... 2. Go back, and "Don't show hidden files"/reboot
  12. Win 7 (32), FireFox 3.6.3, A-squared 4.5 paid anti-malware, latest CCleaner. Noticed Since the latest CC upgrade!- every time I run CC, it deletes ALL FireFox cookies! Analyze doesn't show it flagging Any FF cookies!? I have all my favorite web site login cookies to keep/saved, and no problem with IE8! Wouldn't be so bad with IE8, as Id just restore cookies from backups!- There seems to be no way to Export/Import "Only" FF cookies! Grrr! Q?- FF cookies is checked in Applications, doesn't CC honor the "cookies to keep" list for FF?
  13. I am a software tech. Ver 1.20, win XP home SP2. Fresh operating system installation.- It took hours of testing to come up with why ALL of my cookies & cookies/index.dat file- They would disappear after running "Window folder" "Run Cleaner". I then removed just a few cookies (5 of 40) with Norton Systemworks (2003 & 2004 both) CleanSweep/Cookie Cleanup. "Issues" run cleaner only, did not effect cookies adversely! After testing/restore... over and over (reinstalling complete system..., no other pgms installed.)- I finally determined that CCleaner was the culprit! Run CCleaner V1.20 (tested "several" configurations..., all had the same bug!)- 1. I removed the check from "cookies" and "Delete Index.dat files". 2. Restart/ Run Windows folder "Run Cleaner" only. 3. Run Norton CleanSweep "Cookie Cleanup". a. Showed all 40 cookies. b. Removed 5 junk cookies. 1. Confirmed 5, and saved. Everthiing "normal". Done this many times- No problem with old CCcleaner version. c. Showed it removed only 5, but when done- they ALL deleted but one?! d. Went to restore but only the 5 I deleted were in the backup file. Luckily I have a full cookies backup file to restore! I will just do "Issues" until they fix this bug!
