  1. After Microsoft installs all of the hotfixes and such, the list of 'programs' that you can uninstall grows quite long. Is there a way we can group these? I think it'd be great if I could have Microsoft -> X, Y, Z, etc.

Great program, much more efficient uninstaller than Windows' default.

  2. When I buy the final release of Vista one thing I'll be doing is getting rid of my 128 MB ATI Radeon and switch to a different display card manufacturer altogether.

What model and do you have any intention of selling it (Paypal)

  3. If you're saying that it's not listed in Add/Remove programs, you could use CCleaner's uninstall utility. Works like a charm.

If it's not listed in CCleaner's uninstall utility, load to safe mode, edit the msconfig file so that any AOL process doesn't load on a normal boot. Boot normally, and try then.

  4. Realtek AC 97 - the two black and silver speakers, made by Logitech? Has a subwoofer?

I own those too - great speakers for their price.

Anyhow, I ran Trend Micro's Housecall, and found a little piece of spyware that I had not detected otherwise. Upon removal, everything became much smoother. When I was infected, the paging light, the red one, was always on, or look like a strobe light. Now it's back to normal =D

  5. Well, the thing is, it doesn't seem to get choppy until I've been playing for an hour or so. I'm wondering if I lack enough memory?

I tried the Omega Drivers - they disabled several nVidia features and gave me a lower framerate =/

That's my HJT log - it should be clean but you can never be so sure.

Question two: How can I check for drivers for my Geforce FX 5200? It seems like nothing changes when I update. I play Guild Wars (Prae Ttor [DsR]), and recently it's a bit choppy.

Question three: Is there an application that will show me where my disk space usage is going to? Seems like I don't know where 15Gb of space has gone to.

Question four: Can Media Player 10 play streaming music? (Shoutcast input too, would be nice).

    Thanks.

PS: If you feel this post was in the wrong place, feel free to move it.

  7. the microsoft firewall or anything else made by Microsoft is guarenteed to be garbage. and it is guarenteed to make me really mad.

when i installed SP2 for XP, i was sort of happy but after 3 days, my Microsoft Firewall stopped working. nothing works to get it working again so i got ZoneAlarm after 1 or 2 topics on diffrent forums.

That type of bias, 'anything Microsoft is garbage' is just as silly as anything else I've heard.

  8. If you're using Internet Explorer and it's set to log each page as you browse, browsing will become very 'slow' - because IE downloads certain information about each page you view.

    I reccomend Firefox (www.mozilla.org).

The PC I'm using right now browses the internet at very slow speeds, even with the huge pipe I'm on. It has nothing to do with the connection, it's running 98 and it can't handle the 400GB HD.
