  1. That's a shame that he retired from malware removal, he did a good job. That's not to say that others don't but he has helped me the most and I liked to follow his instructions.

I do appreciate the need to point members elsewhere, and like you I hope that this will be rectified in the future.

The spyware hell section is a good addition to the forums and it would be a shame to see it go.

  2. I will be 22 in July.

I turned twice your upcoming age last Sunday. Don't really feel 44 though, I feel like I am getting younger again a lot of the time. Actually I act it too. :D

  3. The poppy has gone now, that seemed to be there for a couple of days it seemed.

It is all about Mr Men and the Little Miss series now to celebrate Roger Hargreaves birthday.

Poor bloke brought so much fun to youngsters lives but died so young.

  4. We'll build you a beer lounge to entice you to visit more often.;)

Now there's a novel idea, we'd have to learn to write with a slur though, lol.

I'm a much newer member here and I've never spoken to Capman, I know almost nothing about the earlier history of this forum and it may look like I'm not even worthy to post on this thread

Nice to meet you Ishi, you were more than welcome to post in here, as is anyone else. I thank you for your input.

  5. Then within a few hours there will be another topic started saying 'where is the slim build?' because some posters don't read any other threads where is has just been talked about.

Ok, so I can see why you guys may get a little trigger happy with the lock button when that is the case.

How about a pinned topic in the CCleaner Discussion Forum about the slim version? Might save some time, eh?

Pinned and locked but with just enough information to say that slim builds are released a few days later than the other builds, because the developers do need to concentrate on getting the builds out that enables them to put food on the table and pay their bills.

The moderator who locked the topic should have explained their reasons for doing so to avoid confusion.

Agreed. I guess I got peeved because I saw the thread, decided to contribute about how some of us fought hard to get the slim build. Spent quite a bit of time searching for a very old topic that I could link to, and by time I got back it had been locked.

I'm not sure why you think that moderation here is over the top, Capman

Because I do seriously feel that a lot of topics are locked prematurely.

    but Kane3162 was ALWAYS nasty ! ! !

Firstly he hijacked Bruce's topic about Slim CCleaner with his grievance about delays to Slim Defraggler.

Secondly he did not care about being rude in his demands,

Thirdly he grossly exaggerates about the delay for each release of each Piriform product.

Hazelnut objected to his hijacking of a CCleaner topic with Defraggler complaints.

Fourthly, he jumped all over Hazelnut, concluding his broadside with

Fifthly, he concluded by recognising that he has made these demands in the past and that they resulted in heated exchanges,

and demanded that is was Piriform's responsibility to avoid the heat by publishing a count down timer :-

This was all very informative Alan and maybe I should read the forums a bit more thoroughly before jumping in with my opinion.

....it could quickly be resolved on the web site by putting a section for the SLIM or U3 version and either Coming Soon or Not Available directly next to it.

You can't complain on a web site but you can on a forum.

    Very good idea.

Wow. Glad I didn't ask about the slim build.

    hahaha

    http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=30985

It's been in there for a while :o

Trying to find it in there is no easy task.

  6. What the hell is going on in this forum these days?

Why would a discussion such as: SEE HERE get locked?

Are discussion forums not discussion forums any more?

It was not heated in any way, there might of been differences of opinions, but nobody had actually got nasty.

I really do not understand the way the moderators think on here these days, it seems they get a kick out of being over the top. This is one of the sole reasons that I don't post on here very often any more.

What do you guys (moderators that is) do in real life, run away from discussions that are not going your way because there is no way of locking it?

It is so petty minded it is beyond belief!

Oh and by the way... some of us old die hards that still use the program but don't post here any more fought hard to get a slim version...

SEE HERE FOR A VERY OLD THREAD

You can close this topic, delete it or ban me now moderators, whatever takes your fancy.

Oh by the way, this is posted in the lounge... you know the "Discuss anything... relating to anything... software or not." section. :D

  7. I hated my HP all in one when my wife bought it for me a couple of years back, the original install was a nightmare to say the least. If I remember correctly I stopped it and downloaded the latest version from HP website and it went ok after that.

I was on XP back then though, I think all our computers were.

Nowadays we are all on Vista, with the exception of a mac, and you can literally just plug and play with the all in one without installing the whole bloated software.

  8. Towards the bottom of this page, there is mention of Vista.

    Notes for Windows Vista users:

On Windows Vista that "Windows Temp" is disabled, to empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator"

Prefetch has been disabled on Windows Vista. As I'm not sure the effects that emptying prefetch on Windows Vista will have for the time being it I won't enable that function.

That would tell me that Vista is at least partially cleanable with ATF.

  9. I keep mine for a week or two. It really depends on how often you use your computer and installed applications though, if you use it and them regularly then you can delete the backups regularly, but if you seldom use the computer then it might be wise to keep them a bit longer.

It's basically just a case of making sure everything is working as it should be before you delete backups.

  10. I wonder if any of you chaps may have missed the "custom install" options during the installation?

I admit I did, and it's likely some others may have.

The one thing I didn't like about Avast 5 was the exclamation mark over the tray icon coupled with the "you are not fully protected" warnings if you had certain modules disabled. Modules could be disabled in 4.8 without any warnings.

I did a custom install, and unchecked two of the modules I didn't want, and now I'm running only with my modules of choice, and with a "fully protected" status.

This can also be achieved after installing without the need to uninstall and reinstall by going to Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista), clicking the avast entry and selecting Change.

  11. Facebook is practically my life now, whether it be on a computer or on the phone, like I have seen others say it has helped me find people from the past and definitely expanded my social life.

I still look in on forums, but they don't compare to a bit of facebooking now.

I never ever do the apps though, don't like total strangers being able to access my details as if they were a friend, I actually go to extreme lengths to block apps.
