try ranish partition manager. http://www.ranish.com/part/
read the pdf file "Dual-Booting Linux step by step"
also it mentions how to make a dos diskette bootable by copying the follwing to disk
-
if i somehow managed to make a bootable diskette, how would i use it
first make sure the BIOS is set to boot from floppy then slide it in the drive and boot it will automatically boot if it is bootable. just like win 9x boot diskette.
what would a bootable diskette do for me?now we are off topic. the diskette in the question is partion magic diskette it will open a DOS-like GUI and allow you to partition your drive keeping the existing OS (untouched)
i can boot to slackware but i cant install it cause i have no space(the partion).what do you mean? do you mean XP is filling the entire 107Gb
-
I wish I know how. the program (when creates them) makes them bootable.thats why I said (they wont be bootable at your end).however, a bootable CD can be created from any given bootable diskette.
-
bootable diskettes can be easily transformed to bootable CD-RWs using nero. and erase the CDs afterwards. I have done that many times to use the diskettes on floppy-less laptops.
-
Yes you need partitioning software. Two years ago I downloaded PatitionMagic demo version and during installation it prompted to create rescue diskettes (2 diskettes) and since then I?m using these two diskettes to
format
resize partition/move partition
create
delete
label
copy
merge
check for errors
convert FAT/FAT32/NTFS/linux and vice versa
convert primary>logical and vice versa
bad sector reset
hide partition
set active
resize clusters
resize root
CHKDSK
and FDISK
I don?t know if they still allow such thing in their new demo versions.
I can send you the contents of those two diskettes but they won?t be bootable (at your end)if you re-save the contents again on diskettes .

what do you mean by "remove some space"
if you mean to partition your drive while keeping OS untouched. then PartitionMagic is the best .but it isn't free.

vista installs its new theme (aero) and does not install any bar. that bar comes with vista inspirat transformation pack as I mentioned in my previous reply. the install is safe and didn't messup any thing so far. however, during uninstall you will be prompted to (see pic). for trouble free 100% click "yes". if you click "no" the aerotheme remains and no bars, icons etc IN THIS CASE ONLY I COULDN'T FIND ANY WAY TO UNINSTALL THE THEME AFTERWARDS

@Newhotness
I have installed it. It is a part of the install
It is really cool.
1-it automatically creates a restore point
2-can be customised so you can remove the bar
3-can be easily uninstalled to go back to original states
another downlod site (over 65100 downloads)

Vista Inspirat Shell Pack is a complete custom shell pack for all Windows XP.
It consists of modified icons and a new themed appearance for Windows XP. After installing this shell pack, your computer will look like these screenshots.

here it worked so far with 10 people after M$ enforced its validation process. each one bought a legit copy we adviced them to change the pirated key using jellybean with the new legit key. every thing went ok and all the 10 passed M$ validation process without a problem.
-
Hi
what feature. if you mean jellybean. have you actually tried it.
-
Even if you edit boot.ini you still have two copies of XP on one partition.
No need to re-load Xp to make her copy legitimate. Only change the key to legitimate one using for ex. magical jelly bean

I need to shift all the data at the beggining of my drive to the end, so that I can clean the beggining area. Is this possible with a defrag prog?
Can you please provide a pic to see what and where you want to shift the data.

The cassette deck is the best for optimum recordings because it is designed for such purpose. It sends correct noiseless sound level for recording through its "RCA line out". However, recordings can be done using any stereo cassette player
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00067NH98.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
connect the headphone jack to the souncard, the blue"line in". this time you need this kind of cable
http://www.hardware-one.com/reviews/bit88/P1010212.jpg
MAKE SURE THE HEADPHONE VOLUME LEVEL IS SET TO MINIMUM FIRST then gradually increases it to suit your recording.
YOUR SOUNDCARD MIGHT BE DAMAGED IF THE VOLUME LEVEL WAS HIGH.
Then carry on with steps 3 and 4 as above.
-
first record cassettes to HDD then burn them on a CD
1- you need a cassette deck or similar(stereo system) that has RCA line out see pic
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...TapeDeckRCA.jpg
2- need "Stereo-mini to RCA" cable like this one
http://www.imineo.com/imgs/mini-jack-rca.jpg
use cable to connect the cassette deck/stereo system to computer's soundcard "line in" blue see pic
http://images.tigerdirect.com/itemdetails/A457-1400COUT.jpg
3- need a recording program. the free recorder I know is Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
4-do a test first>play a cassette in the deck>select "line in" in Audacity> start recording. make sure the volume control for line in is not muted. box unchecked see pic

see which area will be patrolled by each one in the link in my post above. I think MSAS covers more if not all.
-
see here (for patrol comparison)

i'm using IE7beta for over 2 weeks now. working OK.
BTW. it can be easily removed without a problem through add/remove
to see it there remember to tick "show updates"
no need for a restore point
