The more RAM, the better.
Motherboards have limits, usually around 2-4 gigabyte.
4096 mb is 4 gb, yes.
If you have a new computer, then 512 mb or higher is recommended.

Strange...
* Maybe you got drunk and did it yourself.
* Maybe you had friends over who changed it.
* Maybe the forum software is vulnerable.
* Maybe the admin changed it.
* Maybe you got a keylogger.

Never played LotGD just found it on the net, but I also think that it might not be as cool as LORD.
Usurper? LORD x 100? Darkness? Cyberpunk LORD?
Sucks that LORD II, isnt free..

Geocities is a very crappy webhotell, with banners and scripts inserted to your page and very very limited bandwidth.
If you look around, you will find many better free webhotells.
If your site got a good content, it will spread via the mouth-to-mouth method.
You can also message your friends and tell them about your website, and if it's good maybe they will tell their friends.
You can also submit it to search engines, so they start index it.
You can also use meta-tags on your site.
You can set the website in the homepage field in your forum profile.
Advertising/mentioning your site when it is relevant is okay, spamming is not.

That is an old joke, often it was "the amish virus" instead of the "portoguese virus", etc...

You're learning the wrong languages, heh.
J2ME is quite cool, I have thought about learning that too, it would be nice to make applications for cellphones.
Visual Basic, I started programming in that, the good thing is that its RAD (Rapid Application Developement), but you probably should stay away from VB, because it just gets you locked to one platform.
C-Sharp (C#) is more powerful than VB, but here you get locked to a playform too.
And for ASP you get locked to a platform too. PHP is a much greater alternative.

As an alternative to Paint Shop Pro there is GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulating Program).

Internet connection doesnt really matter so much on how many programs you can use.
Some applications connect to the internet, but most of the ones listed dont really steal any bandwidth.
You dont have to get rid of any software just because you get a new internet connection which is slower.

I highly doubt that it would clean the logs.

For the love of god, please no skins!
Dont cripple this decent software with skins and bloat...

Found an interesting Wikipedia page about it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend_of_the_Red_Dragon
Sucks that the game isnt free, only a demo is freely avaible.
Would be great if it was free and shipped with Linux distros and could play it sometimes when bored or on shell accounts.
I wonder if there is any similiar game to this.

Maybe you dont enjoy programming or maybe you dont apprecite Java and its syntax or something.
Or maybe you dont enjoy lessons and like more experiment yourself.
There are many languages depending on what you want todo.

Was Googling a little, and found something called Legend of the Green Dragon.
http://www.fidotel.com/public/lotgd/
From the page "FidoTel Presents Legend of the Green Dragon! This is a browser based role playing game, similar to Legend of the Red Dragon (only much better)!."

They are bad and lack configuration that I desire.
However, still they are in most cases better than nothing.
I run the firewall that comes with SP2.

I played on telnet://DjLizard.kicks-ass.net
I played Legend of the Red Dragon 2, and its hilarious, I was laughing while I played that game. It was exciting, interesting, amusing and very cool!
Great BBS and great game, glad to see some people still run BBS.
Unfornatually sometimes there was lag though.
Thanks, just wanted to let you know.

My recommendation is to try things, read things, strive to learn, and understand how things work, and how todo things, and what things are and such.
When you wonder something, look it up on websites such as Wikipedia [ www.wikipedia.org ] or Google [ www.google.com ]
I dont know how much you know or how little you know and its hard to tell someone how to learn something, but keep in mind to be open-minded and curious.

Do what you enjoy todo. If you enjoy computers then use and play around with computers.
Everybody starts from zero and unexperienced, with time comes knowledge and experience. Try learn, maybe get a book.
Many people have used computers since they was little kids and have been using computers for 10+ years.
My first computer was a 386. At first, I didnt know anything, first thing I learned was to start a game and then play it.
Then I experimented and learned more and more.
Experimenting is good and you can learn alot, but in some cases you can break things in the system too. My system broke sometimes, and then I had to spend hours trying to figure out how to fix it. But it teached me how to think, how to figure things out, how to try and logic and such. Trying to fix something broken can be a very good learning.

Windows firewalls are a joke. If they even can be called firewalls.
None of them offer true SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection).
Many of them consist of a "Firewall ON" and "Firewall OFF" button.
They all seem to include IDS (Intrusion Detection System) and fancy things. Many people who start use firewalls see things blink on their firewall and gets paranoid and assume someone is trying to hack them.
True firewalls are the ones in Linux (iptables/netfilter) and *BSD systems (ipfw/ipf).

What is good with Java is that it is portable. But it sucks that the apps with GUI's in Java are ugly.
I never really liked Java but I guess the language as-is is pretty okay.
But Sun, the company behind Java is evil.
Java is not really free.

"Because I don't want to."
Pretty bad reason.
Turn it off and you save life-lenght of the monitor, you save power, you get cheaper bills.

Try Mozilla Firefox, the superior webbrowser!

DVD to CD?
in Software
Posted
a DVD contains alot of more space than a CD do.
So if you would rip it, you would need to use compression and the quality wont be the same good as the DVD.
Ripping probably takes some time too and probably you should have a decent fast computer. Many DVD's are region coded too and that maybe can be a problem.
http://www.theora.org/
Theora is an interesting codec project.
But as DjLizard said, mpeg4/divx/xvid is probably what you will use.
Whatever you do, don't use wma/asf/realplayer/qt for the movie.
DivX is the most commonly used codec.
