Are the RegKeys 1-4 really useful? I never had this problem.

Or should we split the RegKeys into separate entries like [MS Notepad *] and [MS Notepad Window Size*], because not everyone always wants to reset the window size?

I also have never seen any "affect" from RegKeys 1-4.  My MS Notepad always stays the same size that I set it for.  I suggest we just eliminate these 4 keys and the warning message.

As for the Microsoft Edge Favorites icons, I believe it is a sensitive area because deleted Favorites’ icons remain in that location and don’t get removed. Favorites icons get repopulated after opening Microsoft Edge. I don’t think it is a wise idea to remove that FileKey from that entry.

I believe the Firefox and Chrome entries also remove bookmarks’ icons.

They do not get repopulated unless you re-visit each and every one of the links manually.

Comment:  I'd much rather have a separate entry [Microsoft Edge Favorites *] with a warning that it is going to delete all the Favorites icons and the icons will be rebuilt as websites are manually re-visited.

We had discussed this in March already. Some quotes:

It is similar to the ExcludeKeys of the entry Chrome [Logs *]: most of the Chrome extensions are working flawless without them, but not all.

It also breaks "Sticky Password" extension.  And I get a bit tired of having to retest and then fix things because "we" decide to try removing a file that was proven earlier to cause problems on removal.  Just because "other programs" remove it does not mean that "other programs" are correct in removing it.  They too can/will create problems because they did not test all possible extensions.  Even though Store may "improve", it does not mean that the other extensions "improved" accordingly.

Leaving container.dat alone is my preference.

Have you had a look in the Event Viewer..Application.... and seen all the 1534 errors?

Take a look on the WindowsTenForum at https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/118976-new-1809-update-now-shows-event-viewer.html

On page 3 of this thread, the first post by Eagle51 shows a procedure that fixed the "Profile notification of event Load for component {B31118B2-1F49-48E5-B6F5-BC21CAEC56FB} failed, error code is See Tracelogging for error details." multiple errors on my systems

FWIW ... Everyone may not have the B31118B2-1F49-48E5-B6F5-BC21CAEC56FB key in all the places listed in Zardoc's post (I didn't), so I recommend you do the fix manually. If you're not comfortable doing the following, then don't and wait for MS to fix it.

    1. Use ExecTi to open Regedit and navigate to the following two keys ...
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification
    2. Under ProfileNotification check if you have the TDL key
    3. Delete the TDL key at each location
    4. Check the locations in Zardoc's post and delete the B31118B2-1F49-48E5-B6F5-BC21CAEC56FB key
    5. Reboot PC to verify

    Note:
    1. I would export the keys ... before you delete them ... just to be on the safe side.
    2. ExecTI

  17. JFI and to let others know that our CCleaner with Winapp2.ini works fine in the impending October update:

I updated my ASUS homebuilt gaming computer and my Dell XPS 15 2in1 laptop/tablet to Windows 10x64 Pro OS Build 17763.1 Version 1809.  The Dell update went almost seemlessly.  The gaming computer had to have the nvidia driver, Sound Blaster Z driver, Norton Security, removed and re-installed to work properly.  Overall I am very pleased with the update and the speed at which it installed.

Now, it is deleting favorites. Most programs exclude %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_*\AC\MicrosoftEdge\User\Default\DataStore\Data\nouser1\*\DBStore\LogFiles from cleaning. You twisted my question. As per my understanding, this policy applies to any backup. Therefore, the backup entries from Google Chrome should be removed.

My recollection of this debate several years back was that we would not remove backup files for security programs and registry cleaning programs.  I believe Robert arbitrated the debate and made the final decision on what would not be removed.

Ok, I hope I found the problem. It was a strange interaction between the "DBStore" cleaning and CCleaners own entries "Session" and "Set Aside Tabs".

Could you please test this new version of Winapp2.ini:

Thanks for your fast reply and your help.

I made some tests on another computer and was able to reproduce the issue now, but only once. I hope I will find the culprit, otherwise we have to remove the "DBStore" cleaning again.

It could very well be a glitch in the CCleaner "exclude" logic or whatever ;)
