If I could get a Raptor or other 10k drive I would partition it so that OS and games would be on the 70/130 GB drive,
with media, music, movies on whatever slower, 7200 drives I have lying around.
ATM however, I don't really have a need for it - so it's all one 160GB fat... thing... One C:/ for all my stuff plus the family pictures, videos, etc.

VLC for Video, XM Play for audio - you're set. Interfaces on both are nothing fancy, but they both get the job done well.

I get to vote in the next election! YAY!

I've had Windows2000 until about 1 year ago. So I don't expect to get Vista until they release Vieanna (Vienna, w/e)

A fake search every 12 seconds is a bad idea, because it is a static value, so it would be easy to filter out those searches from a potential log file and because it follows a fixed pattern. Much time of surfing web is spent reading, not searching. I think it would be better if the delay between searches was random such as example 10-900 seconds.
I hadn't thought of that before, thanks for the interesting thought
I never used AOL search, though... and would NEVER even consider having AOL as an ISP...

CCleaner isn't a spyware remover. Try Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, and some others. You can get them all and instructions on how to use them here.

Does this mean the issue where issues (redundant, I know) aren't being deleted? If so I'm having the same problem. WinXP Home, only user and admin.

WMP 11v2 is not bad, but I heard a lot of people are having problems with the installation and uninstallation of it. The interface is not too bad though.

If you're trying to open a file, Right Click and go to Open With... and use the program you have to open it with. If you're trying to open a docklet, you have to put it in your RocketDock folder first, then add it (at least, that's how most docks work)
at RocketDock: i've tried it once and i absolutely hated it. it didn't have one good skin(out of all the 20 or w/e number that it has), it flickered a lot(i guess GDI+'s fault), and it didn't show if the application was active even though it hooks a dll into every program that it launches. if you're gonna inject a dll into a program and not display if it's active, then what's the point of even having that dll in the first place? for a dock, i use the latest RK Launcher nightly build. it works like a charm and doesn't give me any problems. i also use the realdock skin which is nice as well.
Agreed. RK Dock is very nice. The only thing I don't like is that you can't export/import saved themes (at least, I haven't found a way to)

It already have that choice to have classic menus etc. so no reason not to upgrade I say.
My 5200 *most likely* can't take Aero. And most people run Dells with Integrated graphics anyway... Vista has some nice features, like DX10 and whatnot, but for most people, it will take a very long time for them to transition. In the meantime I can be happy with a Vista skin

Their progammers are retarded I bet...
No programmers, AOL goes for the lowest bidder

$400 is an awful lot for an OS, especially one that seems like it's going to be rushed like Vista.
-
I haven't tried vista yet but since your running it I'll ask you.
Does it have like a windows xp/classic mode? Where all the menus are more link the old windows versions?(classic theme ect) If everything is going to be like IE7 or the new office then I will not be upgrading anytime soon. I just hate the layout so much.
The future version will have the fancy one, "Normal" a lite version which is similar to XP, and Classic.

Hell, with a 30" monitor, you wouldn't even need a TV! And think of how many glorious icons I could clutter my desktop with! With 4,096,000 pixels to work with, why not?
That's 1,000 icons

FreeRAMXPPro monitors your RAM and can clear it up when it runs low. I've been running it for a long time and haven't had any problems with it.

The closest I can remember offhand is going to Control Panel -> Mouse and making it so that the cursor is hidden while typing.
I know there are ways to make it turn on and off at will, but those are somewhat complicated and I actually don't really remember/know how to do them.

The Web Creator is actually one of the more useful things to come from Google; the interface is very noob-friendly, many times more so than Geocities. I'm actually making a club website for my high school using it, but plan on doing the major html and more advanced stuff in DreamWeaver.

I've got one of the discs that they use for hard drives (Dad picked it up at his work @ Hitachi)... nice and shiny, could use it as a mirror

RK Launcher crashing? that's weird. i'm using the larest nightly build and it hasn't been crashing at all here. as for RocketDock, i gave it a go and i didn't like it a lot. the skins there weren't that great and it also didn't show if the process(like Opera) is currently being used. it also flickered randomly at times. so RocketDock is not for me.
I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the docklet I was using (vuMeter from Dockex.com)
as for editing the shell32.dll file, ResHacker is the only tool that actually works. i've tried TGTSoft's ResEdit and some program called XM Resource Editor and none of them were able to replace the images inside.
I've been fooling around with ResHacker, but I've only had marginal success. I basically wanted to use it to change colors on various themes/msstyles, since whenever I change it in the Appearance applet, nothing happens to the actual style (in themes with 'glass effect' style task bars) Know of a tutorial or useful site to learn how to use it?

it's very nice on my system. using around 6mb mem. can play games like flatout 2 and call of duty 2 without having to quit the dock beforehand. Very pleased!
I was thinking about trying rocket dock... i've tried OD and RK Launcher, but I stopped using RK because it crashed multiple times, and at least you can back up your settings in OD... do you know if Rocket Dock can do that?
Also, what do you use for modifying your shell32? ResHacker?
You have to see this to believe it
